Bills’ schedule suddenly gets more interesting

Apart from the fact that the Buffalo Bills will now be a more attractive option for the folks who pick the games that will be played with the lights flipped to “on” and the rate card flipped to “recession proof,” the Bills’ slate of regular-season games will be far more intriguing this year, given the presence of receiver Terrell Owens.

For starters, the Bills play the Dolphins twice. And former Cowboys coach Bill Parcells runs the Dolphins.

Next, the Bills play the Patriots twice. And the “other 81” plays for the Pats.

They play the Chiefs, coached by Owen’s chief Dallas nemesis in 2006 (other than Parcells), Todd Haley.

For all but two of the remaining eleven games, Owens will be going against team who acquired charter membership on the Anti-T.O. List: the Jets (twice), the Browns, the Texans, the Jaguars, the Titans, the Saints, the Bucs, and the Falcons.

The only teams that have yet to provide Owens with any external motivation are the Panthers and the Colts.

Against some teams, the motivation might be even stronger than others.

Saints coach Sean Payton, for example, needled Owens over his habit of not catching passes. “He was second in the league in dropped passes last year with 33,” Payton said Thursday, “and a lot of those came at critical moments.”

Ditto for the Texans, courtesy of owner Bob McNair in 2005. “[W]hy would you wish that on us?” McNair said. “I’ve already got enough problems.”

During the coming season, the Texans and all the other teams that have directly or indirectly dissed T.O. might have problems, too.
