<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">AUBURN HILLS -- Chauncey Billups becomes a free agent Sunday. He might not be one for long.

All signs point to the Pistons making quick work of re-signing their captain to a four-year deal. Here are some of those signs:

    # Most of the teams that had both a need and the financial wherewithal to sign Billups have taken themselves out of the bidding.

    # Memphis used the fourth overall pick to take point guard Mike Conley Jr.

    # Charlotte took on the $51 million left on Jason Richardson's contract.

Those two moves also could force the hand of point guard Mo Williams, believed to be the second-best point guard available. He most likely will return to Milwaukee, another team expected to make a run at Billups.

That leaves Orlando as the only team with sufficient funds to make a bid, and there has been no indication from the Magic they were putting together a package for Billups. Their free-agent target is Seattle forward Rashard Lewis.

"I feel very confident we're going to get this done with Chauncey," Pistons president Joe Dumars said Friday. "From his side, he's made it clear this is where he wants to be. I made it clear, 'OK, if this is where you want to be, then we'll get it done.' "</div>
