QUOTE (o.iatlhawksfan)

why..he's created a nice foundation, it's not his fault it takes time to develop.

Because of his horrible screw ups. The back to back Williams picks in the first round were both huge mistakes. The "foundation" could be so much better.

the verdict is still out on marvin..and he didn't pass on anyone big with the Shelden pick..he's also solid. His mistake are getting to overreacted.

QUOTE (o.iatlhawksfan)

His mistake are getting to overreacted.

ENGLISH, MOTHERF*CKER! DO YOU SPEAK IT?
Lets see, the Hakws had the #5 pick in 2006 and the Rookie of the Year was selected with the #6 pick. Plus two other players that were on the First Team Al Rookie team were selected after #5. It gets more embarassing when you look at the Second Team

Brandon Roy and Randy Foye are 2 guards that can play Pg for short amounts of time, they would've played behind J.J and Chills. Rudy Gay...I don't need to explain this. Saer Sene and J.J redick WTF???

QUOTE (Kid Chocolate)

Saer Sene? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

You don't understand how much that made me laugh.

I think the building is complete. We have every postiton covered and we are young. We got great picks in the draft, and are in good shape going in to this season. I think we can make a run for the 8th sport, but nothing more. I like us going in to the future. I just hope Law and Horford can deliver.

I don't know, I have a good feeling about this group. The East is going to be so tough, but this is probably the most talent the Hawks have had since they last went to the playoffs. I liked their draft picks, Joe Johnson is healthy, Josh Smith is good. The only thing holding this team back is coaching. But they should be fun to watch, at least. And enough trade pieces for the next GM to have some fun.

Well, our young core gives us a great future. I do wish though, we could have a different coach. Sometimes I wonder what Sam Mitchell could do in his home town. He is really good at getting players to work, and that could be great for a young Hawks squad.

The Hawks need to establish stability within the organization before this team goes anywhere. It's hard to develop young players when the Owner (in this case owners), GM, and head coach aren't all on the same page. It's even more difficult when you are constantly changing the headcoach of a team. The Hawks must buy into a system and it's up the head coach to develop his players to thrive in their given roles on a team.
I also agree it's too, early to write off any of the Hawks recent draft picks. Marvin Williams has suffered through injuries, and even though Chris Paul is ahead of him and Marvin may never close the gap, Marvin's stock was still rated higher during draft night. I remember Chad Ford (not that he's the last word on the draft) stating Milwaukee made a huge mistake taking Bogut ahead of Williams. He said they'll regret 5 years from now.
Marvin started showing some flashes late last season, and if he commits himself the game he will reach his potential. He's a very talented player who just hasn't put it all together yet.
I think the Hawks will ultimately miss the playoffs once again, but if they can get to the 35-40 win mark this season, they will have made some nice progress and will be one step closer to making it back to the post season. They need to figure out how to win at home and make it tough for opponents to step on their homecourt. Once they figure out how to win at home, they can progress into learning how to win on the road.
