Responding to submitted questions in a 30-minute conference call with season ticket holders, Bird said he and CEO Donnie Walsh have worked to address issues of maturity and demeanor throughout the season.
"There will be changes," Bird said. "Not that we're going to trade all our players, but by talking to them. We've been doing that. In the last two or three weeks we've talked to every one of our players. Me and Donnie see the same things that the fans see.

"I respect every one of these guys," he said. "Sometimes during games they get too emotional. Sometimes it looks like they're not giving effort. But these players do care."

Bird also said the Pacers have filed paperwork in their attempt to have Jonathan Bender's salary removed from their salary cap. Bender was forced to stop playing by a knee injury earlier this season.

"I think in another month we'll know if the league will allow us to take him off our cap and give us some relief," Bird said.</div>
