WTF is up with Black Friday, seems like most businesses started their BF sales a week ago and the sales don't seem that good.
I wonder if some of it is nervousness about 2025, but also maybe that some of the sales weren't really that impressive?
Being empty nesters now, I can honestly say this is the first Black Friday we have had some disposable income that it’s even worth me looking at deals/ads in 20 years.
Black Friday is largely a joke. Except subscriptions and other digital deals. Everything else isn't a great price unless it's garbage you wouldn't generally want to buy.
Y'all are too eager to buy shit, that's why the deals are bad. Stop buying for a year or so, and the deals will get much much better. barfo
Never have been to a BF sale. My bother in law would wait in Laine at Freddie's at 5am to buy fucking socks! Socks!
Insane. We did it a couple times trying to get bigger ticket items, but that was it. Not even close to worth it.
My mother-in-law only ever gave me socks for xmas until my ex and I got divorced. One of the most intense joys of being divorced is being reminded I never have to experience one of her family's holiday seasons ever again.
Yeah my wife’s family almost makes the holidays that way. Her sister doesn’t like her brother and her other sister doesn’t like the other sister. Shes the only one universally liked by all the siblings. So there’s always drama. It’s quite the dynamic.
God I bet. My ex is the family’s abused pack mule, her older sister the self absorbed wine aunt to the world, and their brother the rich republican golden child. The PhD college track star baby sister is perfect and can do no wrong. They all live a thousand miles away from Mother except my ex, so when the come here all they do is yell at the top of their lungs for the entirety of the visit, then make my ex host them instead of them getting hotels. And their gifts are shit.
The consumerist culture is falling apart. The younger generations don’t want to spend their money on the trivial stuff that Black Friday advertises. A percentage of people wait until this time of year to make certain purchases, such as a television. But (thankfully) todays modern televisions last more than 1 year, and therefor this year sales are down across the board. I’m sure the alarms are ringing in some circles. Where for others they are probably enjoying consumers turning towards convenience. IE: Cyber Monday continues to kill Black Friday. Too many Televisions, not enough Sports.
I bought a couple of sweaters online from Macy's a couple of weeks ago for excellent prices. For Black Friday weekend, they raised the prices on them........what a deal.
Never been a shopper and I'll avoid Black Fridays or sales to avoid the crowds as much as anything. I like going shopping when nobody is in the store and they've just opened. Go get my socks and get the hell out of there.
