Personally, I think the Hawks jumped the gun with Huet and Brian as they should have waited a couple years so they could maybe make a run at some bigger names. Savard was unfairly fired IMO.
If they wanted Quenneville to coach the team, they should have made him the coach when they hired him. This tells me the Hawks management has no plan. They better wake up, because talent-wise the Hawks are the Blazers of the NHL.
I went to games and saw Savard play. The Blackhawks need something to get back to contender status; they normally fire the coach since they can't fire the players.
I don't see the point in firing Savard. He was doing fairly well from the start when brought into a very difficult situation.
I don't get the whole deal. Maybe they want Eddie Olczyk to be the coach and wanted a non-Chicago guy between Savard and him?
What really happened was the writing was on the wall the second Quenneville was hired at a different role. At that point, the second Savard wanted to do anything his way, they were ready to implement Q.
