BlackSportsOnline Now that all of the combined and personal workouts are done, here is my first edition of my NFL Mock Draft. There will be a second and final edition a week before the draft. 1- San Francisco 49ers: Aaron Rodgers (Cal) Right off the bat lets say two things; first the 49ers would love to trade down, but they can?t and we believe taking Rodgers is a mistake. We have Alex Smith rated higher and are concerned about Rodgers being another product of the Jeff Tedford QB system (see Aklei Smith & Kyle Boller). But the 49ers will take the hometown boy to try to appease their fan base. 2- Miami Dolphins: Ronnie Brown (Auburn) Pretty much a no-brainer for Nick Saban and the Dolphins. They need a RB and Brown is the most talented out of the Big 3 (Brown, Williams, and Benson). My only question about Brown is how will he handle being the man that carries the load and the man that followed Ricky Williams? 3- Cleveland Browns: Braylon Edwards (Michigan) This will be out first curve ball of the draft, as new GM Phil Savage won?t take Alex Smith as many people think, but will go with the #1 player on our draft board Edwards. The thinking is that Smith is not good value at #3 and the Browns will get buy with Trent Dilfer and draft a QB early in the second round, possibly Jason Campbell. 4- Chicago Bears: Cedric Benson (Texas) Chicago is now upset cause they wanted Edwards, so they have settled on Benson to be the workhorse back they have been looking for to take the pressure off Rex Grossman. Chi might trade this spot if Edwards is not on the board. 5- Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Cadillac Williams (Auburn) Tampa Bay gets the RB it wants. Gruden got a chance to see Cadillac up close and personal and liked what he saw. This is pretty much a slam dunk. 6- Tennessee Titans: Antrel Rolle (Miami) There is a lot of speculation that the Titans will take Pac-Man Jones out of West Va, but Pac-Man is more of a project, while Rolle is ready to play right now, and the Titans need impact players immediately. 7- Minnesota Vikings: Mike Williams (USC) Mike has been billed as the next Randy Moss, and that won?t happen. But we project Williams to be a good to great pro and good value at the #7 spot. 8- Arizona Cardinals: Alex Smith (Utah) Dennis Green will be ecstatic (Kurt Warner won?t) to get this kid, he has all the intangibles to be a great QB. He will have a season to learn under Warner and we predict he will have a better long term future than Aaron Rodgers. 9- Washington Redskins: Pac-Man Jones (West Va.) Considering they let Fred Smoot go, they would very happy to get Pac-Man here. Pac-Man is a little raw, but he is aggressive which is perfect for Greg Williams defensive schemes. 10- Detroit Lions: Travis Johnson (Florida State) The Lions had all type of problems stopping the run last year and they can plug Johnson right in the middle as penetrating run stuffer to free up those athletic LBs. 11- Dallas Cowboys: Shawne Merrimen (Maryland) With Bill Parcells moving to the 3-4 defense this year, he is looking for an End/LB hybrid type and Merrimen fits the mold. With a little bit of a workout wonder, so could be boom or bust in the league. 12- San Diego Chargers: Troy Williamson (South Carolina) The Chargers are looking to continue to add weapons for Drew Brees and LT. Williamson is a burner who can stretch the field and open up the middle for Antonio Gates. 13- Houston Texans: Alex Barron (Florida State) It seems the same every year, but the Texans have to do a better job at protecting David Carr. They tried to get Orlando Pace and failed so they will address this need in the draft with the best available tackle Barron. 14- Carolina Panthers: Derrick Johnson (Texas) This would be a steal if they could get Johnson at #14. Derrick is a very productive player at Texas even though his hype was a little bit more than his production. He will miss a tackle from time to time, but an excellent player all the same. 15- Kansas City Chiefs: Erasmus James (Wisconsin) They maybe inclined to take a DB here if you can rush the passer that can mask a suspect secondary. James rushes the passer better than anyone in the draft; if he can stay healthy he will be a 10-15 sack guy in the league. 16- New Orleans Saints: Carlos Rogers (Auburn) The Saints have a good front seven and a horrible back four. Rogers is a very complete and solid DB who is not afraid to stick his head in the middle of the run game as well. 17- Cincinnati Bengals: Shaun Cody (USC) The Bengals got destroyed on the ground last season, Cody would be a day one starter and could dramatically upgrade the middle for the Bengals, who are prepared to make that next step. 18- Minnesota Vikings: Marcus Spears (LSU) The defensive transformation of the Vikes continues when they grab the big man from LSU. Vikes need to get more pressure from the front four and Spears will be tabbed to be that man. 19- Saint Louis Rams: Khalif Barnes (Washington) The Rams offensive line is still in shambles even after they re-signed Pace. Barnes gives them a young athletic tackle to pair with Pace. 20- Dallas Cowboys: Mark Clayton (Oklahoma) With slow ass Keyshawn and injury prone Terry Glenn, the Cowboys need some speed in their receiving core. One of Drew Bledsoe strong points are the deep ball, so look for him and Clayton to start hooking up immediately. 21- Jacksonville Jaguars: Dan Cody (Oklahoma) We got Sooners going back to back here. The Jags pass rush in one word: Pathetic. Cody is the best available pass rusher still on the board. 22- Baltimore Ravens: Roddy White (UAB) The Ravens eternal quest for a franchise WR continues with White, who should complement the possession style of Derrick Mason very well. 23- Seattle Seahawks: Matt Roth (Iowa) Another team searching for a pass rush. Roth is a hard worker and will hopefully put a little fire is this soft squad. 24- Green Bay Packers: Heath Miller (Virginia) Even though this pick begs to be defensive, the Pack will try to give Favre as many weapons as possible for his possible last go around. Miller is by far the best TE in the draft. 25- Denver Broncos: David Pollack (Georgia) I know I sound like I am repeating myself, but yet another team looking to upgrade their pass rush. We don?t really like Pollack to much, but he is the best available at this position. 26- New York Jets: Fabian Washington (Nebraska) The Jets will be very happy that a glut of good corners will still be available to them when they pick. They are a little small at CB and Fabian is a big physical corner. 27- Atlanta Falcons: Channing Crowder (Florida) Speed is the name of the game with the Falcons and they get one of the most athletic LBs in the draft. 28- San Diego Chargers: Marcus Johnson (Ole Miss) The Chargers are still trying to shore up the interior of their O-Line and Johnson is the best available guard in the draft. 29- Indianapolis Colts: Thomas Davis (Georgia) The Colts need to be more physical at the LB position. Davis fits the bill of a Tony Dungy type of player. 30- Pittsburgh Steelers: Brandon Browder (Oregon State) The Steelers have been masking their suspect secondary for years, behind their blitzing package, but were exposed by the Patriots. Browder is the real deal and great value at pick #29. 31- Philadelphia Eagles: JJ Arrington (Cal) We got a source that tells us the Eagles like this kid a lot and might not want to wait until the 2nd round to try to get him. 32- New England Patriots: Marlin Jackson (Michigan) Belchick likes versatile players and Jackson played all four secondary positions for the Wolverines, so he will fit in nicely with the Pats.
WOW, very good predictions in my opinion! There might be some trades that might throw this off but very nice!
There is no way the Eagles take JJ Arington that high, a good player and all. Last year they could have gotten Kevin Jones in a same spot. Maybe with the Dolphins pick in the second round. I love the Dolphins. We'll give you Koy Detmer for your 3rd round pick...deal????

Because Rodgers is a local kid who WANTS to play for the 49'ers. Joe Montana was his hero and he's basically been lobbying the team to draft him. He seemed like a lock until recently when Smith lit it up in his workouts. They say above in this mock draft that they might do it to keep the fans happy... Personally, I think they should draft Braylon Edwards.
Never thought I'd see someone actually WANTING to play for the 49ers, atleast not this year after that poor excuse for a season they had last year.
A lot of people say that Rodgers workout was even more impressive....I guess it depends on who you believe....Sporting News draft guide says Rodgers has near elite arm strength and can make every NFL throw, while Smith's are is good, but not great and he struggles with deep throws, especially outs....Ive heard that both workouts were great, so we will see....my preference is for Smith, I think he will be the better pro, but I know alot of educated NFL fans that think Rodgers will be better....
I say the Pack goes D and drafts a Saftey such as Poole or Davis, Maybe a Linebacker like Pollac or something, There is no way they will go TE unless something happens in the Bubba Franks Transitional Player thing.

A couple magizines i read and this mock draft had Brandon Browner going in the 1st round but wasnt drafted. Why wasnt he drafted?

Why wasnt he drafted?</div> Scouts fell in love with him before the combine because he was 6ft 4in cover guy....he got to the combine and it turns out he cant cover....hes a classic example of a player that could compete on the collegiate lvl, had good measurables, but didnt have the skills to be a pro....theres just not a lot of need out there for 6'4'' 190 lbs that cant catch the football and cant cover anyone or tackle....I hear McDonalds is hiring though.....
