I'm watching NBA Coast to Coast right now and they just had a segment about which player you would choose to build your franchise around, Durant or Griffin.

To me this is a "no brainer." I pick the guy who leads the league in scoring for the 2nd straight year, has had virtually no injuries, and an outstanding character guy, Kevin Durant.

2 out of 4 of their "experts" picked Griffin. Based mainly on his physical ability and his 12.5 rebounds per game. Kevin Love is averaging more rebounds and one less point per game. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

    Durant. He just gets it.

Griffin is a tad overrated in my mind.

As a Blazer fan, I'm allergic to anyone who has/had knee issues.

I dont think this is even up for debate. Durant by a long shot. It's like asking if you'd rather have Jordan or Barkley back in the day.

Griffin's ceiling is higher than KD's so I gave him the slight edge there. But either way, you're getting a helluva franchise quality player.

His ceiling? As in how high he can jump. Yes, he does have a higher cieling.

(cieling is one of those words that never looks right after you type it)

I'd still take Greg Oden. He had a 23 PER in 21 games of under 24 mpg at some point of his career in a season he purportedly was on the court.

The media is biased! Give Greggers some love!

Um..... KD can create his own shot from anywhere... he can play the 2,3,4 and as shown in the world games the 5 too! He's two inches taller than Blake and already is scoring 30+ a night for a winning team, not scrub points for a team that can't get out of the way of itself!

You can dunk till your arm falls off ask Shawn Kemp but unless you can make your teamates better and beat real teams nightly your a gimmick not an allstar!

Blake is a rookie. People were saying the same things about Durant his first two seasons.

Let's give Griffin some time shall we? Griffin in his first year > Durant in his first year.

That was my train of thought. Either way we're debating Bugattis and Lamborghinis here.

I think Blake can dunk! What else can he do? He's an undersized PF who can't really create he has to be created for! KD can do it all and he's only getting better! Keep in mind he's LA's height now.

Damn, he really is a BEAST if he can average 22 PPG on dunks alone.

Both are fantastic. One is a tall T-Mac (with less passing but better, gasp, scoring) the other is a Karl Malone type. The one that is more durable would probably be my option. Either one will be fantastic.

God I wish I could dig up the posts slagging the hell out of Durant during his rookie year. I remember people absolutely murdering him for not only his numbers but his team's success. Give it time people. If Griffin doesn't fall apart he's going to be great -- possibly like top 5 in the league great (maybe higher?).
