<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">An incredible baseline dunk by Boston rookie Gerald Green generated much buzz recently at the Reebok Vegas Summer League. The Wizards' rookie second-round pick, Andray Blatche, didn't provide a definitive breathtaking highlight during his summer debut, but the 6-foot-11, 235-pound forward, who played at South Kent Prep School in Connecticut last season, did impress Wizards Coach Eddie Jordan with his solid play. Blatche, who was taken by the Wizards with the 49th overall pick in last month's draft, averaged 9.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting a solid 43 percent from the field. The Wizards concluded summer league play Thursday with a record of 2-4. "The thing that stood out to me is that Andray seems to have an excellent feel for the game," Jordan said. "He passes well, he defends well, he can step out and shoot the ball. He competes on the glass. He doesn't back down on the defensive end. Those are the kinds of things you like to see from a young player getting his first taste of competition at this level." Blatche played shooting guard, small forward and a little power forward, and impressed the coaching staff with his ability to quickly pick up instruction and apply what he was hearing on the bench to what he was doing on the court.</div> Source Blatche played some SG in the game, I didn't realize he was that versatile.
It's possible that Blatche can be the steal of the draft. He has huge star potential here in Washington. If he can pan out, he will be huge down the line.
The SG part surprised me, I never heard of that part of his game before. I know he won't be a SG in the league, but that's what Jonathan Bender would be if his knees would actually hold up. Anyways, Blatche is a guy I'm liking more and more everyday, I thought he was a great pick, and I hope he can produce for us in the future.
I think he'll become an eventual starter. A kind of hybrid between Donyell Marshall and Kevin Garnett maybe? Does anyone know about what capcity he played the SG position at? I mean was he just posting up (or bring the ball up the court) or playing like a pure SG?
