I don't know why I was thinking about this, but it seemed interesting to me, so I was curious what ya'll thought: If you could pick any 4 (current) Blazers for a 2-on-2 game, who would you team up together for the most interesting game, and why? Or separately, which two Blazers do you think would make the strongest team to take on all comers?
I think Miller and Aldridge would make a pretty great two's team to watch. Lobs from Miller to Aldridge, pick and pop, things like that. Wallace and Batum would be another two that would be pretty fun to watch to play, with their length, athleticism and defensive versatility.
If you are playing NBA JAM you want the 3 point specialist and the junk yard dog. Babbitt and Gerald Wallace baby! Set difficulty seating on easy.
I don't know--if Woody Harrelson has taught us anything, it's that a fancy-passin', sweet-shootin' white boy and an athletic high-flyer can beat anyone. I say Rudy/Wallace fits that bill pretty well. As for a head-to-head matchup, I'd kind of like to see a vets v. studs matchup--Miller/Camby v Matthews/Aldridge. I'd be curious if the vet savvy can overcome the athleticism advantage. Also, an all-wing States v Euro matchup of Matthews/Wallace v Rudy/Batum would be fun, although I suspect that America would dominate that one (USA! USA! USA!)
I used to play a lot of 2 on 2 in my younger days, simply because it is my favorite "game" in basketball. You can't hide on defense, you can't zone, and unless a player has a huge size advantage, size isn't very important in rebounding the basketball. It's critical to have a player who can handle the ball and create offense in 2 on 2. I think Roy and Miller would be the best two "small" options, and Wallace and LMA the best "big" options. I'd probably pay $20 to watch those 4 play some 2 on 2.
You have found the best way for Miller and Roy to coinhabit the Blazers--to play against each other, not with each other. This is brilliant becasuse I never thought of this before.
Wallace and Aldridge. They form a combo that can do pretty much everything: play good D, score from anywhere on the floor, dribble, pass, etc, etc. Same with Wes and Nic.
