    LMA

    Miller

    Outlaw

    #1 Pick

    in a trade for a re-signed BOSH / Calderon.

Calderon / Blake / Mills (move Bayless for a pick or vet come trade deadline)

    Roy / Rudy

Batum / Webster (Webs being our 6th man) / Cunningham

    Bosh / Howard / Pendergraph

    Oden / Pryzbilla (re-sign Pryzbilla)

This gives us some needed consolidation; Solves a potential problem for Toronto if Bosh indicates that he won't be returning -

Portland obtains a PF that can defend and score in the paint (BOSH) whereas LMA simply cannot fill this role; moves Miller; moves Outlaw - but more importantly, brings us a PG that can play along side Roy, in Calderon.

    Any thoughts?

I think you managed to downgrade the defense from both the PG and PF positions with this trade - but, what do I know...

    Huge downgrade.

    Enormous.

How is this an enormous downgrade?

LMA is soft; Miller stinks (or is seriously wrong for this team!).

ROY / BOSH / ODEN is much stronger than ROY / LMA / ODEN

    are you disagreeing to this?

I think that Bosh is a better offensive player than LMA - simply because he can move with the ball facing the basket - but I do think he is not as good defensively.

And Calderon vs. Miller is again a case of someone who is probably a better offensive player - but is an even worse defender.

The fact that we lose our backup PF and a pick in the process is also questionable.

It could work - and it could fall on it's face very seriously.

pointless to speculate. there's no way in hell we would trade LMA for bosh unless bosh signed an extension, and there's no way in hell bosh is going to sign an extension before becoming a FA.

the only possible way we could get him is via sign/trade in summer 2010

And, of course, the criticism of Bosh is that he is soft. Doesn't play in the post much, doesn't play tough defense and doesn't rebound as well as his athleticism and size suggest he should. Aldridge, at least, plays solid defense.

He certainly hasn't been soft this season. Added 50 pounds of muscle and legit post moves over the offseason and has been imposing his will on opposing bigs.

His Rebound Rate this season is big-time. Of course, it's in a tiny sample size. If he keeps it up, that will be quite an improvement to his game.

Bosh has usually started seasons off pretty strong, so I can agree that we need a bigger sample size.

He added 20 lbs. of muscle. I don't know what the hell I was thinking by saying 50. That'd be Barry Bondsian.

That's still a lot, but much more believable.

I don't believe that Bosh would hurt chemistry - he'd be what we need: a PF that scores down low-

    LMA doesn't.

I like LMA, but don't feel he's the answer at PF for this team. Why? Because our Center is not a "scoring center" - neither of them.

Go look at 82games.com and compare where the two players get their shots, there's almost no difference except that Bosh probably has better handles than LaMarcus and can drive the lane a little which is why he gets to the line more than LMA. I'm not going to say he wouldn't be slight upgrade, but he's not enough of an improvement to pull the trigger.
