<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Darius Miles? good name is not so good around Portland these days. After his well-publicized, profanity-laced video-session spat with ex-coach Maurice Cheeks, which drew a two-game suspension last month, Miles became a villain in the eyes of many Trail Blazer fans.
The 23-year-old forward shows little remorse for his part in the incident, which he says was blown out of proportion.
?It probably shouldn?t have even gotten to the papers,? Miles says. ?I read where Ricky Davis got into it with (Boston coach Doc Rivers), cussed him out in front of a bunch of kids, and he ain?t been suspended. (Detroit coach) Larry Brown said his team needed to practice more and play harder, and Ben Wallace said, ?I?m tired of hearing that crap.? You ain?t heard nothing else about it, and this is Larry Brown ? nobody taking names on Ben Wallace and making it into something big.?
When his suspension was announced, Miles read a statement of apology to the fans, not mentioning Cheeks. Miles says he has no regrets about that.
?At the time, that?s what I felt, that?s what came out of my mouth, that?s the answer I gave,? he says. ?You?re trying to make something that?s really nothing into something. Me and Cheeks talked (after the incident). We laughed, we joked. It was never really no problem. It was a situation that just happened. We?re two grown men. We just disagreed on something.?
Cheeks is gone now, and Miles is dealing with a new boss ? interim coach Kevin Pritchard, who makes his debut tonight when Portland plays Indiana at the Rose Garden. Pritchard puts the 6-9 Miles just behind rookie point guard Sebastian Telfair on a list of players he will take a good long look at the rest of the season.
?Sometimes Darius seduces you with his talent,? Pritchard says. ?I don?t get caught up in potential. I hate that word. If I can get him to play hard ? he?ll play a lot of minutes, because he?s a big part of our future ? then he can do some good things for us.?</div> Source
