http://basketball.realgm.com/player/Luis-Montero/Summary/85375 It's likely just for Summer League and only guaranteed if he makes the roster but usually we hear about these things. Kid must be showing 'some' promise. Very raw but some unique skills.
interesting for a 22 y/o guy who played 1 year of community college... http://greenstreet.weei.com/sports/boston/basketball/celtics/tag/luis-montero/
According to draft sites he has the ability to place 1-3 and the biggest knock is his lack of weight and experience. Could be a nice developmental piece for a couple years down the road.
Dude is very talented. I hat the comparison, but he's Qyntel Woods talented physically on the basketball floor which is good thing.I wouldn't date compare the personality or IQ though.
As long as he doesn't show his CC basketball card for his Driver's License when trying to get into a Vegas night club. He has some of Wood's skills but is not nearly as thick. Hopefully a higher Bball IQ.
He could be a real nice piece Dow the way. Right now, he's got no left and no heft, but other of those can be worked on. Pretty release and a quick one too, so could be nice eventually. Also, looks like nice handles, especially with the right.
Smart contract by Olshey, just like the one he signed Frazier to. Locks him up for enough time to evaluate and enables us to walk away if needed.
If only Qyntel wasn't so dumb, and hadn't been mentored by The Hoops Family. I always wanted Livingston back before his injury. It will be neat if this guy pans out.
Agreed; a young team (not one contending for WCF) needs a talented lanky high risk/high reward player. Will Barton, Qyntel Woods, Travis Outlaw. None of them had very high basketball IQ (hell, Nate had to tell Travis when to drive during plays!) but they can win you games (Travis, specifically, won us several during the 2007-08 season). I love this signing.
