Evans is at the top of the list, but Blazers would need full MLE to get it done. Blazers won't have MLE unless they amnesty Brandon Roy

Blazers search for a free agent big man narrowing in on 3 candidates: Reggie Evans, Kurt Thomas or Josh McRoberts. >>>

    Oh no....

    Please god..

    NO....

If Evans is getting a $20million dollar MLE deal I'd strongly pass.

That'd be a horrible contract. Maybe as bad a Darko Milicic.

Darko can ball. Evans can't. 5 mil a yr for Reggie Evans? Quick is nuts.

As I said in the Around the NBA thread. Full MLE for Reggie Evans is fucked. The guy is vet minimum talent, at best. The guy can rebound, but he couldn't score 10 points if you locked in the gym by himself for 2 hours.

He's a career 11.6 PER guy, and good rebounders usually have inflated PERs. That tells you how bad the rest of Reggie Evans' game is.

Offering this guy anything close to the full MLE would be insane and would be a clear sign that the Blazers 3-headed acting GM approach is a total failure. 3 heads, 0 clues.

If we can get McRoberts or Thomas on a one year deal I'd be fine with it. Josh had some solid play last year at Indy. I wouldn't give either of those two a second guaranteed year, and I'd only give Evans multi years if they are small, below the mini-MLE range.

Solid points. You could actually apply the same analysis to Camby, he was one of the worst offensive players in basketball last year. Evans would be good in a bit role if the team is in a bind with big men, but that is not somebody you benefit from signing to a multi million dollar multi-year contract.

I'd be alright with McRoberts and Thomas. Evans, but not at MLE.

MLE for Evans would be a travesty.

It'd seriously make yesterday even worse.

Surely his offer will come down in price when no other team offers him that much, but knowing this team they'll probably give in to his demands.

I think Portland should save their amnesty. You never know when we may need it.

Ya stick Evans in there so you don't get killed on the boards. That's the reason we lost the Dallas series. I think he'd be a good short term fill in for our front court. Beats 55 year old Kurt Thomas.

McRoberts isn't that horrible though, is he? At least he can shoot.

Reggie evans is fine at mini mle. One of the best rebounders in the league. Its no surprise to me they are targeting him, nate coached him in seattle.

I would be seriously surprised if blazers use amnesty on Roy. Also I would be surprised if we would even consider any long term contract this season.

Don't worry as of right now we can not offer any FA the $5 mill MLE cuz were over the tax threshold. Unless we amnesty Roy by Friday it is mini MLE time
