Friday, November 20, 2015 Final Score: POR 102, LAC 91

    HEAD COACH TERRY STOTTS
“Well it was good to close out a game. We played a really solid game, four quarters, both ends of the court. There were obviously a lot of good performances. It’s good to break a streak and get back on track.”

On playing Plumlee and Davis together:

“Well, I like their experienced together. I liked the matchups with Jordan and Griffin. I thought that was something we wanted to look at, especially with Meyers out. I thought Noah gave us good minutes but I liked their experience. I think that showed in the second quarter, it gave everybody confidence with it. After it did well in the second quarter, I kind of knew we’d be finishing with that.”

    On Davis:

“He was very active. He competed for every rebound, loose balls. He finished around the basket. He was good with the smaller lineup because they gave him a lot of space. He competed defensively. He had a terrific game. To have three guys have double doubles, that takes a lot of work on a night that we didn’t necessarily shoot the ball that well and still found ways to win a game.”

    On fourth quarter success:

“Not to get into a big discussion about our fourth quarters, but we gave up two leads against Detroit and Houston. We came back against Charlotte and we came back against Memphis, so I don’t think it was necessarily a question of blowing leads or anything like that but I will say that I liked our determination. We made a lot of good plays, a lot of winning plays that you have to make in the fourth quarter at both ends of the court.”

    On rebounding success:

“A lot of it was on the offensive glass, which again, on nights when you’re not shooting the ball that well, those extra possessions really help. There have been nights where the extra possessions go to the other team, so for us there have been a lot of nights where the opponent is shooting 10 more shots and it just represents a lot more possessions. I thought we handled their pressure pretty well and getting offensive rebounds just gives you extra possessions to make something of it.”

    On Lillard’s night:

“He’s been very determined and the back to back threes would probably be the signature plays of the game, but I thought he showed great leadership, great poise on a night that he wasn’t necessarily shooting the ball that well to come back and make those two shots. I thought he showed a lot of leadership.”

    DAMIAN LILLARD

    On fourth quarter success:

“It felt great. I think we had a lot of games lately where we played well and then we cant find a way to win it, cant find a way to finish the game. Tonight, we did a much better job of putting together a complete game. It feels a lot better to finish it than letting games slip.”

    On key to finishing:

“I think we continued to defend. We executed better and we made shots. Down the stretch when we kind of pushed away from them and it was like a three possession game and they were trying to get quick shots, we were so sharp defensively that they had long possessions. We limited them to one shots, we were getting the rebounds and Ed did a great job on the glass – Mase, Chief – we did a great job of just being tight, we tightened up down the stretch instead of falling apart.”

Did you take it upon yourself to get this one?

“With us, I’ve taken those shots in other games and it just didn’t go it. I wouldn’t say that I took it upon myself, it was a good effort. Guys did a great job chasing JJ Redick and not letting him get great looks. We did a great job defending Chris Paul, our bigs helping made me more comfortable. Blake Griffin, weak side coming over and stunting and making him think twice about those midrange jumpers. We just did a great job of doing the small things as a team.”
