"The Blue Jackets tried to turn last night's exhibition finale into a showcase for their three Swedish players, all of whom were made alternate captains and pulled out of their usual roles to be on the ice for the opening faceoff.

But the ease and joy of a 4-1 win over the Malmo Redhawks, a Swedish second-tier club, was tainted by Kris Russell possibly reinjuring his right knee and fellow defenseman Rostislav Klesla enduring a scary face-plant into the boards.

"I'm just so happy (the exhibition) games are over," coach Scott Arniel said.

Russell, playing in his first game since suffering a sprained right knee on the second day of camp, felt a tweak in the knee late in the first period after checking a Malmo player."
