http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3355502 He's off to a slow start, and they were going to sit him down and make him of a part time player. He got mad and said they did it so he wouldn't get his bonus for plate appearances (he would have had next year guaranteed at 10 mill if he had 376 plate appearances). So now they release him. So where does the Big Hurt land now?
Damn, I heard about him complaining, but I didn't think he'd be released! Hmm... Maybe the Mariners can sign him for cheap?
The game on TBS earlier mentioned Texas, Baltimore, Seattle, & Tampa (?) as possible destinations. They also mentioned he starts slow in April and then heats up. What about the Twins who have only 2 players (to date) who have hit HR's this yr? Lets all pray that it isn't the Yankees. lol?

Seattle makes the most sense, they need some more pop, especially from the DH position. He was born and raised in Georgia, so I could see Baltimore as well. I doubt he wants any part of Tampa, and they just signed Dan Johnson to add to Carlos Pena and Cliff Floyd.

Tampa and Baltimore are closest last I checked.

I still think Seattle is the front runner, but Baltimore makes some sense for him to be a short term pickup b/c they need some pop. The fact that he's from the area is just an added bonus, if anything.
No way Tampa signs Frank Thomas. If we wanted an old HR DH we would have signed Barry Bonds, plus we dont want to mess up the good young players we have currently in the DH spot. Right now Johnny Gomes and Eric Hinske are batting very well in the lineup and we also just signed Dan Johnson. That gives us with Pena 4 power hitters on our 25 man roster, I just think Gomes and Hinske are playing too well to bring in Frank Thomas.

Frank Thomas Signs With A's <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Thomas has signed with the A's, according to the AP. Can't help but like such a low-cost move, though it means Jack Cust can't be stashed at DH</div> http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3365079
