The Blue Jays are experimenting with playing Brett Lawrie at second base as a way to deal with an ankle injury that will keep Jose Reyes out until the All-Star break. Toronto general manager Alex Anthopoulos said that Lawrie, on a rehab assignment with Class-A Dunedin, will play at second base the next few games to see whether it works out. Lawrie has played most of his career at third base, though he did play some second base when he was coming up through the Milwaukee Brewers' farm system. "We know he can do it. He's done it before," Anthopoulos said before Sunday's game against Kansas City. "Even if we don't need to do it now, we'll have it in the back pocket that he can."
