<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Bobcats coach-general manager Bernie Bickerstaff told the Observer on Tuesday that he plans to make qualifying offers to restricted free agents Keith Bogans, Matt Carroll, Jason Kapono and Gerald Wallace. Bickerstaff is still mulling other decisions: Whether to make a qualifying offer to Theron Smith, and whether to exercise options for next season on Bernard Robinson and Tamar Slay. Qualifying offers obligate the Bobcats financially to each of those players, to varying degrees. In return, the Bobcats will have the right to match any offer other NBA teams make to those players. The free-agency period will begin in July, assuming the players approve the new collective bargaining agreement the NBA and the union completed Tuesday. Wallace, a former first-round pick, is probably the most attractive restricted free agent for the Bobcats. The team attempted to sign him to an extension last October, but he chose to play out his original rookie contract. Bogans, Kapono and Carrroll were in the rotation during the team's first season, and Carroll was a particularly pleasant surprise out of the NBA's developmental league. The Bobcats have four players under contract: Emeka Okafor, Primoz Brezec, Melvin Ely and Jason Hart. Several others -- most prominently Brevin Knight and Kareem Rush -- become unrestricted free agents, meaning the team has no special hold over retaining them. The Bobcats have until Friday to make those qualifying offers official and have until June 30 to exercise the options on Robinson and Slay.</div> Source I'm surprised they allowed Brevin Knight to become unrestricted.
Wallace is nice athletically, but he is still raw after three years in the league...he has no jumper and no real basic fundamentals...he's one of those players who relies on his athleticism to play the game...
Yeah everyone thought Wallace was going to be really good last year but had a pretty disapointing year averaging 11 points on a bad team.

Last year was the first chance he got to actually start and develop his game. He was their best perimeter defender, averaging 1.3BLKs, and 1.7STLs in 30.7MINs. His shot improved, but he is still terrible from behind the arc. I think Gerald Wallace is a solid role player for this team.

His mid-range jump shot is improving, and he was good on the defensive end this year. He is only 23 and will keep improving, and could potentionlly be a future All NBA defender.
I agree. The Kings did not give Wallace much of a chance. The Bobcat's have. Wallace is improving his game and should be a good player for years to come, again he is only 23. Possibly a defensive stopper with a little offensive game with a mid-range and drive capabilities.
