Cook started the final five games of the Reebok Rocky Mountain Revue, averaging five assists (tied for the league lead), two steals (ranking third) and 3.7 points.

``Omar has the innate qualities of a point guard,'' Bobcats coach Bernie Bickerstaff said. ``He has good ball-handling skills and a good body, plus a good understanding of the game.''

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Cook, who went to St. John's, finished last season with the Portland Trail Blazers. He signed a 10-day contract Feb. 3, had it extended once, then signed a fresh contract Feb. 27. He played in 17 games for Portland.</div>

Omar Cook is a young cat, 22 years old. I wonder if they can get Shammond Williams, he'll be a good addition to the team.

I'm so happy for Cook...I hope he'll finally stick to an NBA team...its tough when you've been cut 5 times and you're only 22 years old...

On a legit team I would say no Omar isnt close to being a starter, his jumpshot is way to shakey. And alot of the Bigger pg's in the league are going to post him up alot, so he will probably be a defensive liablity at times even tho he is a pretty solid defender in most other situations. But with the Bobcats being an expansion team, who will do alot of experimenting with lineups & rotations etc. And Jason Hart and Eddie" what postion do I play again" House as the only other guys capable of being the primary ball handlers I would say that Cook will be looking at alot of minutes at pg for the bobcats next year. He going to create alot of the dribble and he is an unselfish pg who knows how to get the ball to the right people in the right spots. That should really benefit Emeka Okafor. Being a St John's fan I always got love for OC, so this is a nice signing by the Bobcats.

i've always liked Omar's game...hes a pure point guard who can run the floor and distribute the ball nicely, but he has a terrible jump shot and will likely be a liability on offense with his lack of scoring...But he does have amazing passing ability...
