American Exports: Bocanegra signs with Rangers US captain inks 3-year deal with Scottish power, joins Edu, Bedoya AMSTERDAM – Carlos Bocanegra is bound for a new home in Europe after it was revealed Wednesday that the US national team captain has signed with Scottish powerhouse Rangers. Bocanegra’s reported three-deal with Rangers ends a solid stint in France that saw the former MLSer suit up for Rennes from 2008-10 before he eventually wore the captain’s armband for Saint-Etienne earlier this season. Bocanegra’s agent, Lyle Yorks, revealed the move on Twitter less than 24 hours after the Ligue 1 side issued a public "hands off" statement to Scottish Daily Record. Bocanegra becomes the third US international on the Rangers roster, joining Maurice Edu and Alejandro Bedoya. The 24-year-old Bedoya had his contract with the club finalized earlier in the day on Wednesday. It remains unclear if Rangers will be able to register Bocanegra in time for Thursday night's Europa League playoff round opener at Slovenian side Maribor, but Bedoya is not available for selection. The Scottish holders return to league play Sunday at early leaders Motherwell. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2011/08/17/american-exports-bocanegra-signs-rangers
