Bojan Aiming For Champions League Record

QUOTE

Bojan Krkic is hoping to score in Barça's final Champions League group game against Stuttgart as he chases the record as the youngest ever player to hit the target.
After failing to beat the record already this term, the 17-year-old is now hoping to achieve the feat in the next outing as he may see his chances limted after Christmas. Peter Oforiquaye became the youngest player to score in the competition when he netted Olympiacos' only goal in a 5-1 defeat against Rosenborg in 1997, aged 17 years 195 days. “It would be nice to score in the Champions League and I still have at least one game left," Bojan explained. “I have Oforiquaye’s record on my mind, but it is no obsession. If I score against Stuttgart, well great, but if I don’t, it doesn’t matter”. Despite not breaking the record yet, Bojan is having an impressive first season in Frank Rijkaard's team and he is pleased with the progress he has made. “I am very happy with the way things are going. It was important to win, but at least we have qualified," he explained. “I am also very happy with the confidence I am receiving and want to make the most of the chances I am given. “I knew I had a chance of starting against Lyon but until I knew it was official I was not expecting it." Bojan started the game in Stade Gerland up front alongside Eidur Gudjohnsen and Lionel Messi, while Ronaldinho was named as a substitute. “Ronaldinho was on the bench today, but he is a great player and I am sure he will continue to demonstrate that," the youngster said. Finally, Bojan reflected on Barça's policy of moving their three frontmen around as he often ends up playing on either flank. “I have a better chance of scoring if I play in the middle," he concluded.
