<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (ESPN)</div><div class='quotemain'>Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson had arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle Tuesday and is expected to be ready for training camp.

The second-year guard, a restricted free agent, had the operation in Houston, his hometown. The team said he is expected to start rehab next week.

Gibson sprained his ankle Feb. 20 at Indiana and sat out 18 games. He missed the final two games of the playoff series against Boston with a separated shoulder.

One of the Cavs' best outside shooters, he averaged 10.4 points in 58 games. He was named MVP of the All-Star Rookie/Sophomore game in New Orleans when he made a record 11 3-pointers.</div>

Hopefully after his rehab he can restore some of his confidence, I really think that's what was lacking from a lot of the Cavs players this season, especially Sasha Pavlovic and then Gibson in the latter part of the season. They had injuries and then perhaps felt a little bit apprehensive about fully pushing their bodies to the limits, maybe they still had little niggles in their ankles, so lacked confidence in their game. Hopefully with full rehab behind him he'll be back as confident as ever.

Confidence was the problem for Gibson this season? Maybe he was just a one-trick pony shooting specialist who was thriving off of the double teams LeBron has been drawing like I've been saying all along, and therefore he wasn't nearly effective this season as he was during the Cavaliers' run to the championship game simply because teams started giving him a little more defensive attention, and the kid simply can't create for himself.

I think it was a problem, since it is clear that he shot better before the injury than after it. His main problem is also his main strength: he is a streaky scorer. When he's on, he lights it up, but when he's off he can really struggle. The problem for the Cavs is that he's become so popular in Cleveland that he's going to have to be really overpaid. Hopefully, though, he can work on other aspects of his game like defense and playmaking over the next few years to become a better piece of the Cavs organisation
