<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Toistons fans From:Rob Parker Re:Larry Brown's return to Detroit Don't boo. Not even a little bit. In fact, Pistons fans at The Palace tonight should show a lot of class by standing and cheering Larry Brown. The longer and louder, the better. Sure, Brown left for the New York Knicks last summer after parting company with the Pistons, whom he coached for two seasons. Without question, it could have been handled better, especially in Brown's case. He said one thing and did another. Then again, a divorce is never pretty. Still, you should remember the good, not the bad, on this night. The reality is, he did everything this organization could have asked him to do. Paid in full When Brown came here from the Philadelphia 76ers, there was one goal: to win a championship. The Pistons were on the verge but needed that extra push from a Hall of Fame coach who knew how to get the best out of a team. Brown did that in his first season. It was a storybook ending if there was ever one. When Palace public-address announcer John Mason announces Brown in his first game back, and you're in attendance, you should think about the wonderful feeling that took over your body when the Pistons beat the Los Angeles Lakers and won a championship few thought they had a chance to win. If that doesn't do it for you, think back to that glorious parade down Woodward on a splendid spring morning. Detroit was in its glory. The enthusiasm and glee were second to none. This city was, indeed, on the top of the NBA food chain. If that's still not enough to make you cheer, remember that Brown led this team to a second NBA Finals appearance the next season. Even though the Pistons lost to the San Antonio Spurs in the deciding game in Texas, it was still an extraordinary season. Under Brown's watch, the Pistons matured into a team any fan would love to embrace. Their mission of playing the right way showed what could be accomplished when everyone works together.</div> Source
I wasnt watching when it happened(tuned in during second half), but I dont think everyone cheered, I heard it was about half boos and half joyful cheers. I think there should have been no boos, personally, if I was there, i would have cheered for him...
Brown deserves nothing less then a standing ovation. Considering the amazing job he did in Detroit. Anyone who boo's him should really be ashamed of themselves.
^^ amazing job like destroying darko's career, pissing off delfino (two of dumars favorites) or was it when he flirted with the cavs during the most important part of the season. He did a good job his first season then left a sour taste in everyone's mouth the second.

It's clear now that Larry Brown does not just dislike rookies, he disliked Darko specifically. It doesn't really make much sense to play an undersized, inexperienced rookie guard in Nate Robinson. Yet he wouldn't play the 2nd overall pick? Just curious, but what did LB do to piss off Delfino? I never heard about this.

After seeing the lack of playing time that Darko got his rookie year, it made him question how much time he would get and he had he was debating coming over to the pistons. He ended up coming over but found himself on the bench a lot, which is exactly what he didn't want. I mean don't get me wrong it's not nearly to the level of darko and it seems to have blown over, but it made delfino question his desire to play for the pistions, which isn't good when the guy wasn't even on the team yet.
brown definitely deserves to be applauded for his efforts as Detroit's coach...after all, he did bring them a championship... HOWEVER... his "where will i go?" debacle last season was a huge distraction in the playoffs, and it can be argued that it was of great resposibility towards the Pistons not winning their second consecutive title...
^Agreed. Wasn`t it a mix of praise/boos for LB? Some felt happy for him to be back, and they loved that he got them a championship, and some didn`t give a warm welcoming after the whole deal last year.
the ovation was mixed Me personally, I would of gave him a standing ovation as he did alot for the Pistons in general but at the same time I'm glad he is gone. His distractions through the season gets old and overall effects the team.
