No link. It's just a rumor circulating around the LA media. Kupchak added fuel to the fire saying the Lakers have "something big in the works" for next season. I'm not sure if Boozer is option B if Odom doesn't re-sign or they plan to add him along with bringing Odom & Ariza back.
I think Mitch was probably talking about the expiring contracts we can shift around? I think we can pick up solid depth with that.
Yeah it was a bit out of character for Mitch to make a statement like that. The Laker deals usually come out of nowhere. This is going to be another dramatic offseason for Laker fans. LOL.
Something big in the works for next season could be PJax retiring or moving to the front office. That'd be huge, actually.
kareem is coming out of retirement and bynum is going to the bench to back him up. edit: but seriously, i hope it isnt shaq back or odom gone or some trade or no kobe or anything horrible like that. mitch is stirring the pot. phil might, actually highly likely, wont coach, he's probably had enough, maybe we'll get another great coach, or kobe will be player/coach or something.
I hear the Lakers will have a hard enough time resigning both Trevor and Lamar, I have no idea how they're planning on getting Boozer. I'd prefer LO anyways... btw, Shape, when did Mitch say that?
When did Mitch say this? I haven't listened to the radio today, so haven't heard it. Only way I see this is if they intend on losing Odom or Ariza.
The only plausible way we acquie Boozer is if we S&T Odom or Ariza to Jazz. I wouldn't mind Boozer on this team, but not if Odom and Ariza are back. Boozer would have to settle for coming off the bench. I'm more interested in offering Kidd the MLE to come on as PG. Kidd - Kobe - Ariza - Gasol - Bynum Fisher - Brown - Walton - Odom - Mbenga Trade bait: Famar - Sasha - Ammo
Yeah we pretty much want the same people Mamba if the cap situation is ok. I doubt anyone would be foolish enough to trade for Sasha, Farmar seems like someone we can sell on potential though.
I think Sasha will find his shooting touch--at least, some of it. I don't think he'll have a year as bad as this year. For his sake, he did start the year out with a broken ankle in training camp and pre-season that really altered his pre-season. Plus, he's only got two years left on his contract, thank God. Farmar is a nice piece of bait for an uptempo offense, too. And Ammo is expiring. I think Kidd is a very realistic option. He wants a ring, isn't going to get much more than the MLE, and loves Kobe. Two of those 3 isn't bad, ring chance and Kobe > a few million more than the MLE. I actually think getting Kidd is a very likely move this off-season for the Lakers.
god, one day after we win the chip' and we are already talking about adding jason kidd! fukin hell, just lets enjoy this moment of being champions, not dwell on whether or not we will sign some guy or make trades or whatever. fuck it feels good to be a lakers fan.
How will mitch pull that one off? i know Boozer wants a ring and is a FA, but will he accept minimal money and a role off the bench? Id prefer to keep Ariza and Odom and try to get a solid PG like Hinrich.
I just figure there has to be plenty of ring chasers all over us now. I think there is a good chance we sign some random guy cheap. If I was Kidd I would take the vet minimum if I had too, he's not going to get much more outside of MLE money if he wants to play for a real contender.
