Bordon set to play

Boost for FC Schalke 04: skipper Marcelo Bordon should be available for next week's crunch clash against FC Bayern München.
Marcelo Bordon is feeling great again since his return to full training a few days ago. But while the captain is glad to be back, he isn't happy about the international break this weekend. Rested at Meppen A few days before the home game against Bayer Leverkusen the Brazilian was suddenly hit by a knee injury that ruled him out of the clash with the Rhinelanders. "The pain was caused by fluid in my knee", the 31-year-old explained. "But now the fluid has gone and I have no problems at all." The central defender resumed full training on Monday. "I was able to train really well," he said. The management team decided not to play him at SV Meppen, however, so as not to take any unnecessary risks, something that also applied to Zlatan Bajramovic and Fabian Ernst. For Bordon the work of the last few days has been very worthwhile. "I'll be back against Bayern", he said with certainty. "It's been a disaster" But if you thought the father of three was happy about the Bundesliga break because of his injury problems you'd be wrong. "It's been a disaster really", he explained. "As we've got a very busy schedule in front of us it would have been important to work with the whole team again. But because of the international matches we couldn't." And despite being forced to miss the game against Leverkusen he wasn't too despondent. "We played well all the same. It showed the value of having two players for every position. That's what makes us such a good team."
