<div class="quote_poster">Quoting joinmyboard:</div><div class="quote_post">I see no reason why not for years to come, you're a deep talented team</div> I agree. I don't see any reason why the Celtic's couldn't win the championship in a year or two. They've got three great players that can score almost at will, some great defensive players, great role players and some outstanding young players. Let the youth develop in the next couple of years and the Celtic's should be an elite team.
They have a chance to get to the conference finals this year, but after that there's a lot of obstacles for them. With Walker and Payton being FAs, Ainge has some critical decisions to make. I hope they make a good run at it this year because there's no telling what next year wil bring.
I do think that the team has a very solid nucleus, but they're not ECF ready this year. They play detroit well in the regular season, but the Pistons are veteran and built for the playoffs. My only hope is that the team continues to be patient with the youngsters. We all saw how Chauncey took off when he was given time to develop (and no, it wasn't just the Celtics who gave up on him, but thats still no consolation to me) and I just don't want the Celtics to make the same mistake all over again. West, Allen, Banks, Jefferson and Perk need time to grow and need to be allowed to play through mistakes. Thats tough to do when you are trying to contend for a championship, so its a difficult balancing act. They seem to have the right coach in place (I thought his move of just making the team watch the first quarter of the Philly game was great) so they are on their way, but its just a matter of maintaining the learning curve. This group has a chance to be really special, and I would hate for the team to try and rush the building process and make a stupid win-now move like trading a young guy or messing up cap space when we're going to have several extentions to hand out in the next couple of years.
