YEAA!! lets revisit this awesome discussion coz I said so and I missed the first one :mrgreen: IMO only a handful of cities should ever be eligable for this award. cities who not only have teams in all 4 major sports but care about all 4 teams. that pretty much narrows it down to NY, Philly, Boston, Chicago, Detroit. LA doesnt have a football team. Dallas only cares about the cowboys. Miami/tampa only cares about the dolphins. Atlanta may be the worst sports city. even they ahve trouble selling out the one team that people care about the braves. this award should not be about winning teams. It should be about how fans respond to those winning teams. when you get a few MILLION people flooding downtown boston for the patriots parade that should give you an indication of why boston is such a great sports city. The Patriots (even before they won a superbowl), the celtics, the bruins and the red sox (even though they havent won a WS in 86 years) all have large, loyal fanbases. Jurassic said that that means they shouldnt win the award because theyre ignorant to continue rooting for the celtics and bruins even though they arent very good right now. if anything that makes thme MORE deserving of being voted best sports city. would you rather have it go to a city with just fairwhether fans who dont even whatch teh games or go to them when their team isnt winning? Boston franchises are the envy of every other city and atheltes want to play here (ecxept gay payton ) because fans here are tough: the expect the best of you if your an athlete; theyre smart: they know when youre giving it youre all and when your underachieving; and theyre incredibly die hard and loyal

WHile I don't always agree with you Oldschool, that was well said. We always appreciate intelligent conversation. Unfortunately, someone will come in here and call Boston fans ignorant, stupid, or post some nonsense or something stupid like that and this thread will probably end up being closed also.
