<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">here are few players in the the NBA who are more physical and aggressive when guarding LeBron James than Bruce Bowen of the San Antonio Spurs. James ranks Bowen and Ron Artest of the Sacramento Kings as two of the most difficult defenders. A yearly lock on the all-defensive team, Bowen has become well known for his defensive ferocity among other things. This year he has come under fire for his practice of sliding under players as they take jump shots. After Steve Francis of the New York Knicks turned his ankle coming down on top of Bowen earlier this year, NBA Senior Vice President Stu Jackson called Bowen to warn him against such behavior. The first shot James attempted with Bowen on him this season -- a jumper Nov. 3 in San Antonio -- he slid under James; the Cavaliers' star slipped and fell to the floor. Yet, James doesn't complain about it and appreciates Bowen's defensive tactics. ``He does a great job of using his hands and using his feet,'' James said. ``He's a very good defensive player. He's an aggressive defensive player.'' James played with Bowen for several weeks during the summer while Bowen was with Team USA before being trimmed from the roster in advance of the World Championships. It seems their time together only increased his respect for Bowen. ``I'm not sure why a lot of guys complain. He hasn't done anything to me,'' James said. ``I don't complain much about dirty play. Dirty play comes because guys get physical, but I like physical play.''</div> Source
When Lebron is 6'9" 250lbs. there really is no need to complain against Bowen. I agree though, many people are just upset because Bruce seems to defend well against their favorite player and such. However, why does Bowen get away with so much hand-checking?
