Montreal Alouettes' Vice President and General Manager Jim Popp announced today that all-star defensive end John Bowman has extended his contract with the club through 2013. "John has been committed to the Alouettes from the day he arrived in Montreal. He is hardworking, intelligent and a good person, the type of player you want in your locker room. He has made his home in Montreal in the off-season and is committed to helping the youth of our community become better people. If you are a fan of the Alouettes and you want a player to follow... John Bowman is your guy," said Popp. Bowman (6'03, 250 lbs) will begin his sixth season with the Alouettes in 2011, after being named a CFL, East Division and CFLPA All-Star in 2010. Bowman finished the 2010 season tied for first in the CFL with four forced fumbles and finished second with 12 sacks while also tying for first on the Alouettes with five tackles for a loss. The former Wingate Bulldog has recorded an impressive 24 sacks over his last two seasons in Montreal. Bowman will continue his work this winter with the Alouettes' community programs including CN Adopt an Alouette. He's 28. "John has become one of the dominating defensive ends in the CFL through his hard work. He has paid attention to coaching and has not been afraid to be mentored by veteran players.
