High Points: Matt Carroll, 20 (GSW) - David West, 19 (NBA Stars)
High Rebounder: Andirs Biedrins 12, (GSW) - David West, 9 (NBA Stars)
High Assists: Tony Bland, 6 (GSW) - Tim Pickett, 2 (NBA Stars)

Who is this guy Bland? He got 8/9 shooting. I wish there was a floor chart so you could see where each player shot the ball from.

Andris Biedrens 7/10 shooting, 12 boards, 17 points. He was 3 of 9 from the free throw line.... OUCH! But Biedrens got 6 steals which is nice.

Marlon Parmer 10/12 from the line. 6 assists.

Matt Carol actually got fouled a lot 8/8 free throws.

I couldn't find too much on Tony Bland, but I did learn a little. Apparently he's a 6'5" combo guard who played last year in the USBL. He considered briefly going to Europe but came back to play in the USBL. He was the USBL rookie of the year after stints on two teams (Westchester Wildfire for 7games, averaging 13ppg, 4.1rpg, 5.1apg, 1.4spg and then the Brevard Blue Ducks for 22games averaging 20.5ppg, 5.5rpg, 5.9apg, 1.1spg).

Combo guard... ugh i hate that word. But he got 6 assists in 29 minutes plus he was an efficient scorer. That's not bad at all.

Looks like Carol, Bland, Booker, Parmer got the most minutes and the best stats. Looks like the deciding factor was rebounding and Biedrens led that category with 12 boards (7 of those 12 were offensive rebounds) plus got 6 steals. And he almost led the team in points if he could hit those damn free throws. 33% ain't gonna cut it.

Do any of you guys know why Ousmane Cisse and Herve Lamizana got minimal playing time yesterday? Was it simply a coaches decision based on performance or did they get into foul trouble early?

Maybe its because they suck. [IMG] I don't know I'm going to ask Rudeezy when he gets back. I think he went down to watch those games.

Okay I'm looking at the boxscore, and I Biedrins is pretty impressive.

I can't really analyze much except for rebounds, but if the game was telivized I have some questions.

How did he get his points, did he create his own shot or was it all dunks and fast break?

Was their any sign of him developing a decent jumpshot? (I see the 3-9 FT's, so I'm guessing no)

His steals, were they clean or were the refs letting him get away with fouls or pushing etc?

Here's an article that talks about how he's been doing in the summer league.

Remember the two things that people kept saying about Biedrins before the draft: he's got great hands and he's got grat feet. Apparently that scouting report was true. Mullin loves Biedrins' basketball IQ and his knack for the game.

Biedrins has been great at cutting to the hoop on offense and he's always around the ball on defense. It looks like he plays the passing lanes very well for a big guy, plus he can get out on the perimeter and defend guys. He sounds really impressive, I can't wait to see him play.

tony bland ,,,i believe ..... is one and the same a guard with great leadership skills..... he took sdsu for the first time in their history to the dance only to have reality set in as frank williams and illinois blew them out.....

tony bland was a syracuse transfer to sdsu.... in two years he was an integral part along with coach fisher in revitalizing a perrenial loser in sdsu

i never saw nba potential in the guy, not big enough or quick enough, a decent mid range game but not a shooter

nice to see his name show up somewhere though.....

I encourage everyone to listen to the Kieth Smart interview on KNBR.com for a very good review of the first two games. You can find it in the Razor & Mr. T archives. Everyone seems to be veery impressed with AB, and apparently MP actually dislocated his shoulder, popped it back in himself, then went out for two more sets before they pulled him: stud.
In the second game AB played small forward due to 3 injuries (including MP), and Keith gives a shout to Tony Bland for stepping up.

Thanks meshgearfox. I will definately check that out.

MP is a stud! The guy reminds me of J-Rich. Not only in his ability but his work ethic and toughness.

Wow, I think that officially makes Pietrus the toughest guy to ever come out of France...take that Pepe le pew...

Yeah, I read today that the Warriors were going to hold Pietrus out of the rest of the summer league games so I figured it was more than just a strained shoulder.

Thanks for the heads up on the Smart interview, I'm going to head over there now.

Yeah, no white flags for Pietrus. This guy is like Jrich, tough as nails and not afraid of anything.

^ No doubt that Pietrus is a tough cookie. But, a major problem with shoulder dislocation is that each time you dislocate it it, it makes it that much easier for it to pop out. That's why, if this is his first time, he should definitely take as many precautions as possible to let it heal back up and try to strengthen it, if possible.

It's kinda ironic that he's out because of a shoulder injury that he got from taking a charge... the thing he prides himself on the most (defense) leads to his injury.

Hey that's why some players refuse to play defense because they know it gets rough and they aren't tough enough to play physical. That's why I respect defensive players that are willing to take the punishment and make a difference on the floor.

I just hope this injury doesn't linger on throughout the season.

Yeah, maybe he has improved his game somewhat. He's like what? 6'3? That's some good size especially if he's a pure point guard, which I'm guessing he is. I doubt we'll need a 3rd string pg unless NVE gets moved before offseason.
