Have you ever had braces? I did for 18 months. I got mines off a year ago and I have a retainer now. I only have to wear the retainer for 1 more month, then I have to wear it at night only. Anyone of you guys wear a retainer or have braces?

Nope, but my brother did and he said it was hell. Especially in the beginning; mash potatoes were a struggle to eat for him.
i loved my braces, hated the retainer though. i'm actually thinking about getting some clear braces within the year.
Man, braces at first hurt like ****. And the first month you get them tightened, they hurt. All your teeth become all loose and stuff. Eating noodles even hurt.
I actually need them for my bottom teeth but people can't tell because when I smile my teeth look fine. I still need them for my bottom teeth but I'll hopefully just get clear braces when I'm in uni or something.

Also i have to wear a bite plate cause of some thing with my teeth biting off my braces, and that sucks too.
I'm going to get braces in like a few months. Can someone rate the pain on a scale of 1-10? 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest.

I did and I hated every minute of it. Everytime they would adjust my wire, it would poke me and make me bleed. And when I first got them on, they pushed the metal band on my molars into my gum and i bled for 15 minutes strait. Didn't eat a thing for 3 days. But I got some nice teeth now so I guess the suffering paid off.

I'm just gonna go back and get cosmetic work done, that way I dont have to worry about wearing retainers and crap for the rest of my life.

When you get em at first, like the first 3 days for you with braces will be like hell. It'll hurt if you eat bread. My best suggestion, eat noodles for 3 days for breakfast, dinner, and lunch and also try some ice cream. The first time you get them tightened they hurt reeeeeallll bad. Even when brushing your teeth'll hurt. But like I said, you'll get used to them. The worst part I think having braces is getting hit in the mouth with them. Like when playing basketball, I once got hit with a bball, and next thing you know, blood all over my shirt. Even if someone barely hits you in the mouth your metal part of you bracket (the thing on your teeth) your lips/gums will bleed. Also I hate the wire, if the dentist dont cut it out all the way, you can get poked with the thing in your gums. Also, when you get braces keep a little wax with you, and put it on you wires, which will prevent the wire from poking your gums. Its a lot of things to do in the 2 years you have braces. And you will have to visit your dentist each month to get them tightened which also sucks. You will have to brush a little longer than usual and you have to keep care of your braces like not get them messed or something, but you know what? Its all worth it at the end. The best part is getting them off. But all this work for braces is all worth it. I would give having braces a 5, since it is gay to have them and take care of everything all perfect, but also they help your teeth a lot. Also, you will get a retainer after you get your braces off basically to keep them straight, for like 3 months after you get them off, you will have to wear the retainer 24/7 all night all day every day (except when eating/brushing your teeth), and after the 3 months, you will only wear the retainer at night only till you're an adult. I have to wear it every night till I turn 20. Thats 5 years, and if I loose it, I have to pay $300 for it. Thats bs man.

My dentist said I could stop wearing it a year ago but I still occasionally wear it. While we're on the teeth subject, anyone of you guys get your wisdom teeth pulled? My dentist told me I should have mine removed, and I'm going for an X-Ray soon. I'm pretty nervous about it though... By the way, I've had braces for about 3.5 years I'll say. My teeth were really bad around six years ago because I had around 3 extra teeth in my mouth, I had to get them removed and I've had around 4.5 years of orthodontist ****. Glad that's all over.
I see why your braces took so long. You had a problem with over crowdiness in your teeth. My brother has that, and I got my braces off a year ago and he still has his, while we both got em on at the same time. I hate the retainer like keeping on taking it off and on when eating. I have to wear mines all the time or else my teeth will quickly move.
Haha I had braces, worst months of my life. I got the braces off and didn't even wear my retainer, but they are still straight, thank god.
Did you guys get a metal retainer or a clear retainer? I had a metal one, then they gave me clear, and now I have metal again.
