Re: Brandan Wright's shoulder injured, MAY BE out 4+ months Blah. EDIT: Actually he may be out 4-6 months, I guess we'll find out after the MRI if surgery is needed. Either way it's not good though.
This obviously sucks ass, but it should mean a lot more playing time for Randolph, Turiaf, and Moore. We better hope AR is ready for the big time, because he's going to have to be the man there now. Just really hoping Nellie doesn't see it as an opportunity to play Maggette and Azubuike more at the 4.
Despite what Nelson said about BW, I doubt he would've played him a lot of minutes even if he started. BW doesn't have the type of game that Nelson wants. I fully expect to see Mags starting at PF now and Randolph play PF and C. Man, if we can get David Lee somehow. It would be awesome to pair him with AB or Turiaf. Maybe the Knicks will deal for Lee later in the season when they're out of the playoffs. They will be looking for expiring contracts.
Maybe this explains why Wright isn't as aggressive or physical at times. Once you injure something, you don't really want a repeat.
Who else could we have picked in the 2007 draft instead of Brandan Wight? Overall a poor draft crop after Kevin Durant. Joakim Noah - jury is still out Acie Law - we got him and he's a third string backup Thaddeus Young - offense not defense Rodney Stuckey - erratic Marco Belinelli - traded to Toronto Marcus Williams - he didn't play and we gave up a # 1 pick+ for him Marc Gasol - not a bad pick at # 48, but Lakers absolutely raped Memphis in deal and got his brother Pau Ramon Sessions - # 58 pick makes good
It all went south when we traded Jrich. Stupid ownership. I mean thought the Sjax/Jrich combo was great for the wing. Then I was not happy when we gave up conditional first round pick for Marcus Williams and we did not even use him or intend to use him. Then we also traded Marco who has a lot of good guard skills and he's athletic and basketball smart. Then we tried to get Maggette to replace our lack of a strong small forward, but his team skills are lacking and he had one of the worst statistical seasons of his career. WTF? I ain't going to support Cohan's and his cohorts anymore. Just bad decisions all around. I'm starting to miss Baron even though he was extremely risky to put most of the franchise budget into. But we need that one superstar that will carry this team and frankly, I don't think Ellis is mature or smart enough to do what Baron did for us. Baron made others better when he had go-to scorers to pass to. When we gave up Jrich, we lost a consistent 20 points per game right there. A combined Wright and Azubuike ain't making up that difference. The young players the Warriors invested in post-Jrich, turned out to be wasted. Let's hope Randolph isn't one of those wasted players that turns out to be nothing more than a Tim Thomas. I'm also hoping Morrow becomes a shooting force on this team. We can't have guys bricking wide open shots.
Article says: Does it make sense to pick up his contract now? I guess they're hoping he can get healthy enough to trade next year or play, but wow, if this is a recurring injury (which it appears to be) then it sounds like your risking a lot of money for more injury-plagued seasons (and if he's injured, he obviously won't be tradable). I hope the Warriors aren't using the same medical guys who evaluated Freddie Sanchez.
It's really bad that he's having shoulder injuries this early in his career. The younger you are, the more susceptible you are to having chronic shoulder injuries. My brother was plagued with dislocated shoulders his entire life from motocross, but he still races. I dislocated my shoulder a couple years snowboarding, but at that time, I was 29 and I haven't had any problems...it took a good year for it to fully heal with physical therapy for the first 6 months. I still tweak it here and there playing basketball, but it seems to be holding up pretty well. I guess the point is, I think Brandan Wright is going to have shoulder problems his entire career.
