<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>As for Brandon Bass' future, Avery Johnson said it should be understood that Bass is still only 22 years old and isn't yet supposed to be the sort of player that carries a team. He's a work in progress.

"You're going to have some nights where he comes and makes some incredible blocks, gets 10 or 12 points and gets some rebounds and plays some tough, hard-nosed defense," Johnson said.

"And then you'll have some nights where maybe he's just lost.

"We went through it with Devin (Harris), with (DeSagana) Diop. And that's what we're seeing there. And also, just figuring out how to best utilize him. He's up and down." -- Dallas Morning News</div>

I've been loosely paying attention to Bass. He's had a few good games where he's played well, but even more games where he's been lost. He still has good potential to be a good player, though.

Bass is averaging almost 8/5 in 20 minutes and he's a great Free Throw shooter. What I really like about him is that he is always in the post looking to grab rebounds, when no other Maverick is. With Dampier knee injuries and Diop's position in Avery's doghouse, Bass's minutes will be going up in the next few days/weeks.

He's really gone from a true nobody last season in New Orleans to a player with potential in Dallas. He's got a nice shooting touch but he's incredibly strong aswell - he isn't afraid of anyone and I like seeing that considering this team seems to be somewhat girl-like when it comes to attitude.

Bass may help that quality a little. We need more tough guys. Everytime we bring in a supposed tough guy, he gets soft.

The only Maverick with so-called "Testicles" is Jason Terry, he's definately not afraid to put someone to the floor if it stops points and helps out the team. Stackhouse pretends like it but doesn't really always go through with it.

Stackhouse took it all the way on that play.
