I say NO THANKS. I don't see him as appreciably better than Jerami.
 
Never been a big fan. He always looks disinterested. Maybe it's the perpetual "I'm stoned" eyes. I want some guys with a little more fire.
 
think of a big fat number between $40-50M. then add a few million dollars. that's how much you'd have to pay him to play in Portland for each of his 28-31 or 32 seasons.

then, decide whether he even makes sense in portland.

Keep BI healthy, trade him for scrubs and a pick midseason. Then draft a Kris Murray in summer of 2025. Tell everyone Ingram was going to leave, and Cronin got something for nothing.

Point taken, but if Cronin thinks trading for Ingram is something to pursue, wouldn’t we have a thread about that?

Is the purpose of threads only to disagree with one another?

It would be weird if we never had threads where people could all agree.

Well yes we can all agree, but shouldn't there be something related to the Blazers or an argument we are agreeing to or such? The first reddit post has no mention of the Blazers, and there's no proposal or argument of how this impacts the Blazers, so just seems like a random thread with zero substance that I questioned the purpose of.

Well, here’s how a move like trading for Ingram, or a similar player, COULD be worth kicking the tires on. I think there’s a chance this summer that Cronin zigs when most expect him to zag. If he can use Brogdon and Williams to add a solid seasoned vet at the SF position then the Blazers’ roster suddenly looks more competitive. Ayton, Grant, Ingram (or another better fit), Sharpe, Scoot, Simons as 6th man, Jabari, existing and newly drafted young guys is intriguing to me.

Me too. Would brogdon/Williams and picks be enough? Id actually prefer to trade Ant and keep Brogdon off the bench. Would Ant/Williams and picks be enough?

Would they be interested in these players? Likely not Ant because they have CJ.

If it could be swung, id do it.

Scoot/Banton?
Sharpe/Ant?
BI/Camara
Grant/Walker
Ayton/Reath/Badji?

need more front line help. But that is intriguing to me.

Like I said, I don’t think that Ingram is the perfect solution. I’d rather find a bigger, better rebounding, PF and move Grant to SF. The overall point is, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Cronin looks to build a competitive roster this summer instead of playing the lottery game.

Ok good point, maybe the Blazers could give up some draft picks to go from 21 wins to 26 wins and finish 13th in the West.
 
New Orleans is going to expect a decent return for Ingram,

So probably Ant, #7, maybe the 2029 Boston pick, Thybulle for salary matching, probably something else as well (a 3rd pick?).

Then Ingram probably has a Josh Hart moment after 3 weeks of the season and starts to push for his exit.

Sure we could win more games next season with Ingram or a vet, but why would we try to do that instead of using the picks to possibly find a long term starter?

A. As I said, I don’t think Ingram is the right fit. He and Grant are too similar.

B. I never said I would include this year’s picks. Something down the road, maybe. I’d definitely be expecting a solid starter in the deal.

C. Contention would definitely depend on Scoot and Sharpe becoming All-Star level players. Are you betting against them?

D. I like the young guys we have and expect several to become solid role players. I expect the Blazers to find some talent with this year’s picks.

E. Most likely, the Blazers will still be a lottery team next year, so there will be talent to be had then.

I'd certainly bet against them becoming allstar players. In another thread where we ranked Blazers rookies/youth historically I had Dame/Roy at a 10 - LMA at a 9 and Scoot/Sharpe at 5/6.

Now Scoot/Sharpe are by far the two most valuable players on our roster, but thats because our roster sucks ass - not them being likely all-star level players. Yes I'd love for them to become allstars but I would bet against it and I certainly wouldn't bet future Blazer picks to acquire vets to win now with that allstar expectation gamble.
