Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Brandon McCarthy, sidelined last September after being struck in the head by a line drive while pitching, is recovering after suffering a seizure Monday while eating at a restaurant with his wife, azcentral.com has reported.

McCarthy had returned for the start of the season but was put on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation last Saturday, two days before having the seizure.

McCarthy, who says he is OK and won't be further sidetracked as a result of the incident, has been put on anti-seizure medication after a trip to Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Ariz.

"I remember someone restraining me and telling me I had a seizure," McCarthy said, according to the report. "I don't really remember much past that until I was at the hospital."

McCarthy said his wife "took control of the situation pretty quickly" after he fell over in his seat at the Phoenix-area restaurant, climbing across their booth and pushing a table away before calling for help.

"That's the story I've been told," McCarthy said. "She might have dressed it up a little bit, but I'm pretty sure she was a superhero there. I know she's talked about how some of the employees there were pretty damn good. Some of the people eating there helped, too. If anybody reads it or hears about it, thank you to them for helping and making it go as smooth as possible."
