Breaking news.......looks like the Bulls have shipped James Johnson to the Raptors. http://twitter.com/#!/CarmenDeFalco/status/40179534850555904
Ick. That's a shame... Guess we'll see who we get with the next move, but I'm pretty meh on what I think it's gonna be
Yep, link here http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nba/news/story?id=6148430 Still pretty meh, but at least it's a 1st rounder. Now we've got 3 firsts and $3M in cap space we could swap for... ?
I would have liked to seen him get more of a shot when Bogans wasn't shooting well. He can probably put up decent stats on a bad team. Just as well to have another first than keep him if we were not going to play him.
I want to see Doug Thonus' reaction given he was such a strong supporter of JJ pre-draft. Although I will say he seems to have gotten over preferring Beasley to Rose.
Glad for JJ. He likes cold and lonely places (from Wyoming, right?) Hope those firsts and cash turn into somethin'. Courtney? sure! Parker? Hmm. Rip? Wow! And (for SST) Battier? Yahoo!
You asked, now you shall receive! http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chi...-james-johnson-to-tornoto-for-miamis-1st.html
Dont look now, but if memphis would do it, we could now do something like, bogans and pick or two for Mayo. Just saying...doubt grizz will do it.
Is there a better possible resolution for J.J.'s stay than the trade that was made? J.J. is going to a franchise that will have minutes for him to grow and believes in him. (A first round pick is not a cheap asset.) I think I like his skill set more than most fans, but I see him as a Tyson Chandler type. I think he came in the league with the ability to kind of do a lot of different things, and it's going to take him a couple of years to figure out what he does very well, and narrow his game. Toronto gets a talented young player to toss into the mix. And . . . the Bulls get Miami's pick. Not just any pick, MIAMI'S PICK! That's going to be hella' fun when draft day rolls around, regardless if the Bulls make it past Miami in the playoffs or not. On the off, off, off chance that the pick produces a player who is special, the talking heads will drone on about how South Beach had the chance to draft him (blah, blah, blah) but gave it up for Bosh. This is a win all the way around.
I'm loving this deal! JJ is a young player, Wake Forest (Which to me a school that produces great NBA talent) and could be the SF of this franchise making Sonny expandable. Hooray!!
Seems like a step backwards if they don't use the cap space and picks to improve the team's chances in the playoffs this season.
