While the continued media pressure on EliteXC didn't spur the Florida State Boxing Commission to investigate a fight fixing charge against the company, the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation will. The FDBPR oversees the FSBC. It certainly sounds like a 'formality' but overriding the decision of the FSBC means they are a little more serious about it than they are letting on. EliteXC executive Jeremy Lappan has changed his story again. Now he alleges he offered Seth Petruzelli not just a knockout bonus, but also a submission bonus and a fight of the night bonus. This sounds like an outright lie based on the comments Petruzelli has made in multiple interviews. Meanwhile Gary Shaw, who is supposed to be an advisor and not a managing executive for the company, recently said in an interview that he thought encouraging Petruzelli to stand in the fight wasn't untoward at all, but rather just the company asking him to be "fan-friendly". He probably shouldn't have said that as it sounds like a confession. Dana White chimed in again on the issue, claiming the FSBC is being lax: This could just be the beginning of a shitstorm for EliteXC. http://www.cagepotato.com/2008/10/1...siness-and-professional-regulation/#more-2842
That's whole thing is hilarious, I really like how he refers to them as "these scumbags" every chance he gets. Stuff is awesome, I have always liked Dana White.
I totally agree with his assessment that they're "Boxing guys who don't give a shit about MMA, they're in it to make a buck"
EliteXC exec Jeremy Lappan changed his story again, now claiming that not only was Seth offered a submission bonus, everyone was. The problem with that is he has been contradicted by both Benji Radach and now Seth Petruzelli (again) in a new interview: Lappan, $kala, and Shaw Sr. need to check themselves, they are making everything worse.
