As of tonight, EliteXC's reigning Lightweight Champion KJ Noons has been stripped of his title for refusal to defend against number one contender Nick Diaz.

Noons has been rejecting EliteXC's overtures to defend his title against Diaz on the grounds that he is underpaid and that Diaz is unworthy. Noons has proposed fighting Eddie Alvarez instead.

    ProElite.com:
I don't see Noons fighting for EliteXC again, and if he is serious about his boxing career, this may be it for his MMA career. The UFC doesn't need him and, apparently, other organizations can't afford him. There is a slim chance he gets on with Affliction/Golden Boy Promotions, but he would probably want to box, and as a boxer he isn't a draw, so who knows?

lol I must have missed Nate call out Noons, but damn... Noons should just fight Diaz again. It should be a good fight, and if he hates Diaz, then giving Diaz a second loss to him would be something he should want to do.

I was just editing this thread as you posted. Looks like the Noons/Diaz rematch will never happen.

I rarely do this, but I have to give EliteXC credit for this move. Noons is a shithead and so is his manager. He was in no position to pull a power play and start handpicking opponents. You can get away with that when you're Fedor or Cro Cop or somebody that has firmly established themselves as one of the GOATs of the sport--but even then only in rare circumstances and never without criticism. Noons isn't a known commodity for casual MMA fans, he isn't a draw, and he isn't worth the trouble. Especially not for a company already dealing with a mountain of financial problems and waining television ratings.

lol Crocop wouldn`t have that kind of pull in the UFC. GSP, Penn, and Anderson Silva would probably have that pull in the UFC though, and Fedor would in Affliction.

lol @ the tag "weak ass punk". I agree it is appropiate.

I'm glad that he is stripped if he totally disagrees to fight a legitimate threat for his title.

chances are he wouldn't have beat Diaz a second time and I totally wouldn't like his chances vs Alvarez either.
either he got the wrong idea planted in his head by management or he's a douchebag moron on his own.

either way, good luck with the boxing career junior.

I thought it was funny win Nick Diaz won his fight on fight night, and made that statement "Hopefully some people will stop dodging the other Diaz brother," or something to that effect. Everyone that knows about the situation, knows that Nick was just making fun of Noons there, you would figure that Noons would have some sort of pride to not get called out like that on TV. Apparently not though, so like Celtic Fan, I will just say good luck in Boxing. It's easy to dodge guys that can beat you there.

Nate was the one who won, and I believe made the statement.
