"Houston Rockets Sign Tracy McGrady to Multi-Year Contract Extension
Leslie Alexander is proud to announce the signing of another superstar to the Houston Rockets organization. ?Tracy McGrady is one of the greatest players in the game today. This marks another stone in the foundation to making the Rockets one of the premier organizations in all of sports. Yao is next, and we hope to sign him to a long-term contract as soon as allowable."

Well, Not any new knews, but good none-the-less. It's great theyre signing Yao to an extension next. McGrady said yesterday it was gonna get done this week, but great news. On another note, people in Houston -- have you heard that Rockets games might only come on FSN?! Thats absurd! No more 51! Sorry for venting like this, but that's crazy -- now I need my parents to cough up $50 plus the other $50 I convinced them to use for cable internet. I was gonna watch the cable games at my friends house, but now, there's no way I can watch games. Blah, this just ruined my day.. The extension is something good to hear, let's hope Tracy repays us.

McGrady being re-signed is not really unexpected news. He was probably more than ready to sign one anyways, now that he's got what he wanted in playing with a dominant big man like Yao. However, does anyone know how much he was signed for? Let's hope it wasn't so much that it will disable our cap flexibility.

Rockets games not being shown on Channel 51? I've never even watched that channel before but it seems that they do show a lot of Rockets games. It'll be bad if the broadcast of games go to only Fox Sports Network. Not that it will bother me. You guys in Houston will still get more games than I will.

3 year, 63 million extension is the supposed deal. Which means he will be getting paid around 110 million over the next 6 years.

Three years, $63 million? That would pay him $21 million over his last three seasons. He might be in the prime of his career then, but is he worth $21 million a year?

Welll...if he does what we want...why not pay him what we're paying him?

Good move by the rockets i think,

Well, I think that my boy T-Mac is worth that kind of money. If Shaq can make practically 30million this year than why cant T-Mac make twice that in 3 years? GOod to hear he got an extension, hopefully Yao and T-Mac can dominate and bring us a ring or two.

Shaq's contract is just ridiculous. IMO, McGrady is good, but not worth a $21 million per year extension. Kobe Bryant is the best SG in the league, and he didn't get paid as much.

Well, that is your own opinion, but the opinion that Kobe is the best rises from what everyone else says. Most people think McGrady is 2nd best.

Since this thread is not about Kobe Bryant, lets not talk about him anymore, but nice try guys.

If I was Tmac I would have waited. I don't feel like opening the paper in a year, and seeing a quote about how he is demanded a trade like his crybaby cousin. Play at least half a year there, see that the management is moving the team in a direction that you like.

I think that Tmac feared Yao getting a contract extension and eating up most of the cap space, so he jumped on the offer. If he starts complaining later on I will be extremely upset.

Nah Leslie Alexander for some reason loves Tracy , and would have given him all the money.

Apparently, the extension is 4 years and 85.7 Million. He'll get paid 24.1 Million, in the last year of his contract, 2010-2011, when he'll be 31/32...The same age Shaquille O'Neal is worth now (32).

Unless injury occurs somewhere in between and McGrady becomes Grant Hill-like, I don't see any reason why he wouldn't be worth that money then. IMO, he would have a PERFECT game by then and would have been the perfect counterpart to Yao, if both were still in Houston.

Well he said that the Rockets would be the only team he would sign an extension with,so this is not a suprise. There was talk that Mcgrady might wait until the season was over to sign an extension, just to see the teams sucess.

Its cool to see they got something done,Tracy and Yao throught out the next few years will be fun to watch.

as a newer Houston fan, obvioulsy i followed T-Mac, however i reckon all you long time Houston fans will be gald you offered him an extension now and the money he will be earning, he is well worth it!

now hopefully contract deals with Yoa are just as easy (all indicators say they will be!)

Lakers won 3 titles with Shaq. In terms of winning championships, Shaq is proven, T-Mac is not. We'll see in a few years whether Tracy is worth all that money. My gut feeling says no, though.
