<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">If the Seattle SuperSonics are in fact looking to trade Brent Barry, here's an idea: Bring back Pookie. The Philadelphia 76ers are in utter disarray, losing four of their past five, dropping seven games below .500 and still searching for an identity. And former Sonic Eric Snow is not pleased about it, venting his frustrations this past week. Turns out, the Sixers are suffering from the opposite of what the Sonics maladies are. Philly wants to be a defensive team, but needs scorers. Seattle wants to be an offensive team, but needs some stoppers. "We either need to go get an offensive team and get rid of guys like me and get guys that are going to come in and score and make up for the defensive end," Snow said. "Or we can go get a defensive team and play a 70-70 game, because what we're doing now isn't working.</div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Snow advocated that Sixers general manager Billy King trade him. "Do you just sit and throw in the towel for the whole year?" Snow said. "If they (management) feel the team isn't getting better than what we have, then you change it. If any player is against that, that's not right." So why not this? The Sixers need offense, and the Sonics need perimeter defense. Swap Barry ($5.4 million) for Snow ($4.5 million) and rookie marksman Kyle Korver ($366,000), an Ashton Kutcher look-alike whose specialty is 3-point shooting.</div> <font size="1">Full Story courtesy of Frank Hughes and the News Tribune.</font> Probably the most realistic trade proposal yet. Makes a lot of sense for Seattle, and if Snow really does want to go, then it makes a lot of sense for Philadelphia too. Barry's injury may ruin any chance of it going ahead, though. Thoughts?
Nate Mcmill & Eric Snow have a close relationship from snows days as the 3rd string guard on the Sonics. And Snow would probably love to go back to the Sonics. But if Iam philly no way do I make this trade. By trading Snow they are not only affecting Snow but they are affecting the possible play of there best player Allen Iverson. Eric Snow is the perfect point guard to play alongside AI. If you trade Snow then Ai will have to do more ball handling as a point. Granted Brent Barry can play a little point guard but Snow seems to distribute the ball enuff to make everyone else happy while AI takes alot of shots. The one thing that brent would bring that Eric doesnt have is he is able to stretch oposing Defense with his 3pt range, which would open jump driving lanes a little more for AI. But that isnt worth breaking up the chemistry of AI & Snow in the backcourt. And All this Snow" I want to be traded talk" is just bs imo.The sixers are losing right now so its natural for him to unhappy with the situation. Once Derrick Coleman comes back from injury & the sixers have time to become a complete team with all their parts 100%(which they havent been all season). And they start winning games in the weak eastern conference, Eric Snow & the 76ers will be just fine. No the current 78ers roster isnt really good enuff to beat the eastern conference top teams come playoff time.but trading Brent Barry for Eric Snow doesnt improve their chances.
NO, NO, NO, NO! Kyle Korver, NO! lol. No way we could trade him. We need scorers yet they want to send Kyle, the 2nd 3-point shooter in the league, in the deal? No way. Other than that, I like the idea.
This deal will nvever happen.First Kyle Is Philly's fan favourite and The Sixers need to win now,Barry's injury kills this deal
Not really...Maybe Barry for Snow but I dont think Kyle should leave philly...for 2 simple reasons explained above...Fan Favorite and 3-Point Shooting ability..I rather trade Snow for someone else tho...that Snow AI Chemistry thing is a good point.
People are missing the point here. The reason this trade has been suggested is because Eric Snow is making noises about leaving Philly and not being happy here, as evidenced in that article. If all was well and good, Philly wouldn't trade Snow, but if he's not happy and the team is struggling then it may be the best solution.
Finding someone to play along with AI will be hard. Especially the chemistry since Snow and Iverson have been playing together for so long.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting kvh4fan:</div><div class="quote_post">Finding someone to play along with AI will be hard. Especially the chemistry since Snow and Iverson have been playing together for so long.</div> Very true, though I do think Barry would be a great fit. He's extremely unselfish and gives deadly shooting from the point guard spot. Being a bigger guard also helps counter AI's size defensively, though Snow is a far superior defender. Then again McKie can make up for this I guess.
Brent Barry can more than replace the three-point shooting the Sixers lost in Korver. Barry's an experienced player and a great shooter. He can take over the team when needed and dish when asked to. It'd be a great acquisition for Philly.
Philly could use a 3-point shooting PG. Kyle Korver and Brent Barry would lead 3 pt. shotting for Philly.
that's a tough call. i think both teams would be better off in the short run just keeping their respective players just for chemistry's sake, but barry has the ability to flourish in the sixers offense and snow runs the point admirably and is a great distributor
Brent Barry is injured. And is most likely the trade is not going to happen, because Philly cant wait for another 4-5 weeks for Barry to come back, because they need help right now. Simple as that. But expect there to be a trade before the deadline.... http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/sports/ba...all/7859744.htm

The Celtics are also interested in Brent Barry: http://www.justbball.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=31
I really don't know about this trade, but Korver looks to be a great and dangerous three point threat in the future. He is now, but he is only going to improve. Oh and as for Snows remarks, it is true on what he is saying, but he sucks and he is cosing us a lot of games. Maybe if he leaves and we get something good in return it could help. Snow is starting to show he is not the type of player that can fit on the Sixers team very well. Sixers need a PG that can shoot and score...Snow has great D no doubt but he can not make a jumper to save his life. I just don't like Eric Snow at all, I'm very disappointed in his play, and him leaving would be great because I know we can get something pretty good in return.
That is one of the dumbest remarks I have heard about point guards. Trade a point guard because he is not scoring. They are not supposed to score!
