Just completely tired of his act. His numbers might look decent but this should've been a career season when you consider where he was at the All Star break. In his last 258 ABs he is in the low .20os which is ridiculous for an everyday player. See if some team is dumb enough to take him and get what you can get for him. I'd rather see kids like Heathcott and perhaps a healthy Mason Williams play. I'm done with this tired act.
Since July 28th (47 games) his #s are even worse than Stephen Drew. 180 ABs with only 34 hits that's a batting average over the last 2+ months of 188
I've said for a while he's a glorified fourth outfielder. Add in horrible base running instincts and a noodle for an arm there's no reason he should continue into 2016 as a clear cut everyday outfielder.
The big three albatrosses will be back next year, need a 2nd baseman, Headley should be moved. Nova moved as well. Without some action from the FO next years team will probably be worse than the '13 unit.
Gardner is 32 years old. As a Yankee, I agree, he should be shown the door to anywhere. So should several other players on this team...........we know who they are, but the FO has no clue. The FO will probably jam more Drews down our throats. Some way to build a Championship team!
I can deal with Beltran in right field next year but Gardner in left everyday doesn't work. Last year he hit .213 in August and .167 in September so he faded again.
when ells came here there was no need for him, another wasted opportunity by this organization to better the team
Look, forget how this sounds and listen to the logic. When Beltran was down early in the year we basically had the equivalent of the Alou brothers lol. I have always like corner outfielders to bang about 20-25 HR's a year. Gardner is the worst professional base runner I have ever seen. He is incapable of stealing a base on a regular basis. He has benefited from the financially strapped ownership. Give me a corner outfielder with 20 to 25 Hr power
...the above posts ^^^ are very good and very accurate assessments of the current state of this franchise and it's roster situation. ...I don't see things changing until 2017, if then.
As we've spoken about plenty of times this season you really have to question the stand pat motives of this front office all season long. This was a team before the deadline that was in good position at least on the surface to make a decent post season run. I would need an explanation of how they allowed an offensive black hole to remain at second base all year long as well as an explanation of how there wasn't a single deal to be had at the deadline to perhaps shore up the bullpen. Therefore we were left with these minor league gas can jokes whenever the big two aren't available for the bail out. And you can't tell me with the fragile nature of the staff to begin with that Warren could've been counted on to stay in he pen where he didn't even start the season to begin with. Even more telling and more of an indictment was the contact disappearance and reappearance of Capuano as the best the Yankees were able to do. How this season was handled was a complete embarrassment as far as I'm concerned.
BTW I take zero joy in being proven right when I've said for two years that Gardner was an overrated glorified fourth outfielder. A guy who also has seemingly never made an attempt to become a better base runner and has an absolute noodle for an arm. I have no idea what can be done with him or if anyone would take him in a trade. Maybe a team would so it's worth checking out. I'd rather see a kid in left next year over this same old tired song.
I see a definite pattern here................ After July Gardner is basically SHIT!! 2014 August & September = 192 (Aug-213, Sept-167) 2015 August & September = 195 (Aug-208, Sept-178
Just the same overall numbers every year which haven't improved. Obviously because he has shown a pattern of dying out the last months of the season.
