Same old story for the Brewers: No Playoffs:
    http://postcrescent.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti...C0206/803300397

I don't know what this guy's problem is. As a life long Brewers fan, I too have suffered for the past 26 years, but I've been really encouraged by the last two or three. This guy needs to lay off.

The new owners are actually spending money to improve the team. Five years ago, the Brewers were in the bottom 5 in league salary and now they're in the top 15 and climbing.

He ends the article with the ever popular "The potential is there, for sure. But until they prove otherwise, the Brewers are just also-rans in the National League playoff chase" so it's easy for him to recant later.

I, personally, hope he has to...

John Kruk was bashing the Brewers the other day as well, practically gave the NL Central to the Cubs.

Kruk is a douchebag. He bashed the Brewers all of last season as well.

Sports Illustrated has the Yankees over the Cubs in the World Series this year. Come to think of it, I think that's what they say every year. [IMG]

i think the brewers have a great future, and they just need that one year to break into the playoffs and get some experience or something.

last year they almost made the playoffs before that one bad month (august?) and were done. all their young players are only gonna get better, so i can't see how this guy can be so pessimistic. total buzz kill.

It's actually a 1 year, $6 million dollar deal. The initial reports were $10 million, but ESPN's salary page lists his contract at $6 million for 2008.

In my opinion, that's $5.8 million too much. [IMG]

I don't know why it heads it at 10 mil, but lists his base as 6 mil below. Still a lot for him.
Why didn't they give Turnbow another shot and use that money elsewhere? Is he shot?

Turnbow terrifies me. He's either really great or truly God awful. Every time he comes in to a game I find myself holding my breath and covering my eyes. [IMG]

Again, I realize it's only two games into the season but David Riske has been looking pretty awesome. He shut down the Cubs 1,2,3 in game one in the bottom of the 10th and then came in yesterday and pitched the 8th and 9th. After walking the lead off man in the 9th, he struck out the next three batters to seal the game.

I'm guessing he'll be the full time closer in another month.
