I'm glad the Brewers managed to re-sign Dave Bush and I think that Hoffman is a less risky closer proposition than Gagne was last year. I would still love it if the Brewers could find a way to re-sign Sheets before he lands with the Mets or Rangers, but that seems less and less likely with each passing day. I'd really like to see the Brewers retain Shouse as well. Lots of talk right now about trading Prince Fielder for pitching. Since Fielder is in full on "screw you Milwaukee, show me the money" mode, it might not be the worst idea. Overall, I wish the Brewers would step it up a bit. I feel like there are still a lot of holes to fill on the mound after losing Sabathia, Sheets, Gagne and Torres.
Fielder gets traded sooner rather than later in my opinion....they just need to make sure they get value, because they have lost a lot of talent this offseason....what has happened to Sheets is just ridiculous, to still be waiting on a deal at this point, with few significant offers is not right, injury history or not....
Sheets probably should have taken arbitration. It would have guaranteed him at least $14 million this season and give him another year to stand out for a bigger payday. I'm guessing he's getting a bunch of 3 year/$20 million range offers right now and he wants more money or a longer term. If Milwaukee can't re-sign him, I'd like to see him come to Houston so I can at least watch him play this year!
