So much for finding the answer at closer after Cordero's departure. Way to go, Gagne! Blowing a 3 run lead in the bottom of the 9th while you're the 5th highest paid guy on the club? Come on... And with NO OUTS???? This is made even MORE infuriating by the fact that the Brewers let Claudio Vargas go this week, despite his modest salary. Way to go Doug Melvin! Trade an under-paid 16 game winner for an overpaid, over the hill closer who was named in the steroid report. The bullpen had better get shaken up early this year. *sigh* Despite the rant, way to go Brewers! 1-0
What the hell happened to Gagne? My dad was the biggest Gagne fan few years ago now he can't stop cursing him out.
Gagne is past his prime, he was a beast in LA and was my favorite player at that time. But now he sucks just look at hes record with the Red Sox.
Steroids is what happened to Gagne. If Ben Sheets can stay healthy the Brewers will be a good team this year. They're toast if they lose him, though.
The Brewers signed Gagne to a 1 year free agent deal for $6,000,000 (even though this article says $10,000,000): http://www.madison.com/wsj/home/sports/brewers/261166 David Riske put the Cubs down 1,2,3 in the bottom of the 10th. That's encouraging... Also of note in this game... Ben Sheets batted 8th in the order. That's the first time in Brewers HISTORY that a pitcher has batted anywhere but 9th.
Gagne never has lived up to the hype IMO. He & the manger (can't recall who) cost the NL the hosting of the fall classic (the 1st yr All star game results determined such). The manager should have gone Gagne, Smoltz, Wagner not Smoltz, Wagner, Gagne in the 7th, 8th, 9th. Most importantly about the Brewers is they beat the most overhyped team outside of the 5 boroughs.

They can't sign 1 FA for the league min, or call up 1 minor league prospect that can't out hit the pitcher? And yes LaRussa should be fired too as he loved to pull this stunt for the 'double-leadoff' man. He's retarded too. -Petey
