    They got permission from the DoD to play this game (and Army vs. Boston College, who to their credit also volunteered to pay Army's travel costs to get to the game), in part b/c they were able to show that DoD funding is not used to pay for athletic activities. I will refrain from making the joke that Air Force is so inept they need United to fly them to the game. ;)
