<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Barbara Walters made LeBron James a top pick again. The Cleveland Cavaliers' rookie guard has been named one of the "The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2003" for Walters' upcoming network TV special. James was the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA draft last June. The 18-year-old James said he was surprised to make the list, which includes California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Nicole Kidman and lifestyle maven Martha Stewart. "I don't know who votes on something like that," James said. James' interview with Walters will air on Dec. 17 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC. </div> Link This is quite an acheivement. Thoughts?
I think he really deserves it. Another great accomplishment by LeBron. I bet He's happy and suprised. Great Christmas present if you ask me.
Well of course, he has received so much hype even before he dribbled a ball on a NBA floor, so this should be no different.
I've never heard of this award and I like LeBron's quote. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"I don't know who votes on something like that," James said. </div> He has definately taking the sports world by storm. He is a phenom on the court, and the deals he is doing off the court are record breaking. Love him or hate him, he is a fascinating 18 year old to say the least, and deserves a spot on the list.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Henacy:</div><div class="quote_post">All this for What?</div> Playing the game of basketball at the age of 18 very very well.
Good kid, not stubborn, says all the right things, is mature. Has natural charisma as well, which is why he is so popular (and because he is so popular, that's why he is so hated)
He deserves to be on this list. Look at all the hype hes gotten and everywhere hes been. Hes 18 and every kid knows his name. Hes makin an impact in this sports world... And what he said was very true...who does vote on somethin like this? Ive never seen this before, its like the top 10 sexiest women or somethin. This is somethin you just have...this is basically the top 10 most popular people. Thats all...
And 18/6/6/1.3 is not impressive and he should not be ROY and he should not even be on the All Star Ballot and he has not done anything to deserve squat and he is overrated and his team is not winning and Cleveland made a mistake drafting him and they should have taken Melo and there are much better pros out there and they should not allow kids like LeBron James to enter the NBA until they are 30 or have a PHD in Physics. I figure the Bron haters will be arriving soon so I thought I would get them warmed up.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting VinnyMack:</div><div class="quote_post">I figure the Bron haters will be arriving soon so I thought I would get them warmed up.</div> It's bad when you know exactly what they are going to say. That's how silly it is.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting VinnyMack:</div><div class="quote_post">he should not even be on the All Star Ballot and he has not done anything to deserve squat and he is overrated and his team is not winning and Cleveland</div> Regardless of how Lebron fans feel, the above statement is true. With all the guards in the league, Lebron did not deserve a spot. Media hype once again. The NBA is a business. I don't think that Lebron is one of the 10 most interesting people! And if you Lebron fans are taking pride in that fact that he is, keep in mind that Martha Stewart made the list as well .
Message boards are all about opinions. There is no need to put IMO in front of every statement, it would get tedious very quickly. Back on topic; do you guys feel that Lebron deserved this award? Why or why not?

His name is everywhere, everyone wants to see him, he is backing everything up with outstanding play that we have never seen in the NBA by an 18 year old. So yes.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting King James:</div><div class="quote_post">I, like LeBron could care less about the award. But I think that there are plently of people with their name everywhere, who everyone wants to see. Lebron gets mad props for his acheivements, but why him? Obviously, celebs had to be the ones to make the list. But I think that there are plenty of other people arguably more "interesting" (depends on how they define the term) who should have made the list. Not to take away from his award, but based on Sandman's explanation, I feel that many others should have been awarded before James.
Good for LeBron. To be put in the ranks with our California governatah Ahh-nold, Hilary Rodham Clinton, and Martha Stewart is a huge accomplishment. Now guys...would a "HATER" praise LeBron like this?
As much as I don't like Lebron's OVER hype... I subconciously root for his success. His sucess will bring the NBA back to a better state than it is in.
Well Trail_Blazer76 this can be said for a lot of things, a young band that has a great sound and a lot of potential, or what about other sports where the pros are 14-16, like some pro figure skaters and tennis players, I don't see the same bar set for them, yet they get the attention from the masses and everyone wants to see them. Is that wrong? People like to see the new thing, and it is not like he has not backed it up with his play either. I like to let the people speak, the Cavs are 2nd in road attendance only to the Lakers. The lack of winning is the only crutch that the haters have left, because first they said he never played with pros and could never hold his own, then they said he could not shoot, then they ripped him for his defense, then they said he could not lead his team by scoring. What will be next after the Cavaliers manage to get some wins? Where do you people get this "hype" from? Some 8 year old that screams his name? Some other unmoderated message boards? Who is this "they" that is praising this kid so highly that it is driving you crazy? Because I don't see any of that here at JustBBall.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Cavs are 2nd in road attendance only to the Lakers.</div> Irrelevant. But I'll respond anyway. You really think that the Cavs are being watched because Lebron has proven himself? Think about it, he was being showcased nationally as a high schooler. Of course people are going to be CURIOUS. If you aren't willing to awknowledge that the media played a role in attendance at Cavs games, then I don't know what to say. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The lack of winning is the only crutch that the haters have left, because first they said he never played with pros and could never hold his own, then they said he could not shoot, then they ripped him for his defense, then they said he could not lead his team by scoring.</div> I'm not a hater, but technically he cannot shoot! He is shooting 41%, a percentage that Iverson is often critisized for. If Bron is going to be the top scorer on the team, he should improve that. Also, Lebron has not led his team by scoring. He has led his team IN scoring. He has yet to lead them in any way. I refuse to respond to the statement about his defense. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Who is this "they" that is praising this kid so highly that it is driving you crazy? Every player has faults, and they need to be awknowledged as opposed to denied when someone points them out.
That whole post pretty much speaks for itself. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">You really think that the Cavs are being watched because Lebron has proven himself?</div> Did I say that? Read. There is only stereo typing being done here. I'm done with the conversation. "Next Topic" - Max Kellerman BTW...is that face that Damon is using in your avatar right after he took a hit? LMAO
