<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">James, Anthony look forward to teaming up in Rookie Challenge So Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James are All-Star snubs. Not the way they see it. Just because the two friends and super rookies aren't scheduled to be on the floor Sunday night doesn't mean they're not having a massive impact on their first All-Star Weekend. Combined, they've generated more hype, ratings and sponsorship dollars than any new duo in league history. In many ways, the two will likely put the NBA's 10th Rookie Challenge on the map tonight. Their inclusion and the excitement around it spurred the NBA to not only move the game to prime time, 9 p.m., but also move it to Friday of All-Star Weekend because it's suddenly a linchpin event.</div> Full Story
I'm looking forward to this almost as much as I do the All Star Game. I give the ASG the edge because I had bet on it.
It's exciting to see the best rookies play for the same team. Also, I'd like to see what Amare, Booze and Yao can do together.
Question about the rookie + soph rosters where do they get the players listed heights and weights? LeBron is listed as 6'8, 258! Thats the same as boozer. Looking at the other players the only other thing that seemed strange was Josh Howard listed as 6'5. here's the link http://www.nba.com/allstar2004/rookie_challenge/index.html oh yeah, and is there anybody else that thinks lebron should try to play the power forward slot? yes, i know that boozer plays there and it sounds crazy, but when Lebron is around the basket he can sky for rebounds and is as strong as most other power forwards. I think him grabbing rebounds could really spark the fast break a lot more often, and there is no way any power forward can keep up with LeBron. (it also would take one of the other teams shot blockers away from the net)
[quote name='King James']I think Boozer plays the PF spot just fine... Yeah, i can't wait to watch Boozer and see how he does.
I can't wait to see LeBron and Carmelo tear it up in the rookie challenge. It's going to be some good stuff tonight.
This is the game I've looked most forward to the whole season, I like this better than the ASG in fact! It's going to be a great match, but I think sophmore will win
Why would we put him at PF? He is a playmaker, so he needs to be in position to make plays. I can see small forward, but not power forward.
Any player of the game predictions between the two? While we are on the subject, we might as well share our predictions.
Real rookie challenge would be no contest <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">To tip off All-Star Weekend this year, the best of this season's first-year players meet the best of this season's second-year players in the annual Rookie Challenge. Allegedly, they'll be playing for bragging rights. The game we'd really like to see would require time travel or your PlayStation2: the best of the 2003 rookies vs. the best of the 2002 rookies. But we already know the score of that class war. '03 would whip '02. Pity the rookie class that plays them next year. In Denver or in PlayStation2.</div> Full Story
What a game!! I mean what a show!!!! Dunkfest 2004! We won't see that many dunks in the competition on Saturday! Boozer even threw it off the backboard and punched it! And someone got their wish and saw LeBron go between his legs and dunk it with the other hand. On a sidenote, we all know about JayZ and his "Dynasty" hand gesture (for lack of a better word). We all know that LeBron has imitated that same gesture numerous times before tonite. The funniest thing happened after he did it during the game. I was watching the game with a friend who is neither a sports fan nor a huge JayZ fan. Once he saw LeBron put his hands together he immediately said "the Diamond Cutter!". I almost died laughing. Just thought I'd share that.

What a show indeed, there is no way that the dunk contest can beat what we saw in this game, just no chance. Recap <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Dunk contest comes early <font size="1">James, Boozer, Anthony put on show in win by sophomores</font> LeBron James streaked down the floor, threw the ball off the backboard as he soared into the air and tugged the rebound down into the hoop. Moments later, Carlos Boozer found himself on his own breakaway streak and did his own version of the dunk drill, nodding at his Cavalier teammate on his way back up the floor. This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.</div> Full Story
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Big Nasty:</div><div class="quote_post">Whats that mean??</div> My bad, should've explained. The same hand gesture is used by a pro wrestler, Diamond Dallas Page, or DDP! His finishing move is the Diamond Cutter, and he makes the gesture right before he does the move on you. Except when he does it, he swings his arms to his side and yells "Bang!".
Man I missed the damn thing. Anyway they are going to show the whole game again or do I have to buy a DVD or something.
A dvd would sell great... Highlight each rookie and show why they were selected. Show the full game Have some bonus stuff like highlight music video sorta thing stuffed with rookie highlights from the first half of the season. Throw in a few wallpapers Sell the product. Damn marketing is my gig.
