Today, On ESPN, Mort restated that Denver wanted to move up. Green Bay was rumored to me the most likely trade partner

Initially, it was to get Vernon Davis.

Today, It was stated that The Broncos want a playmaker (M. Williams) or in case Bush falls.

I looked up thedraft trade value chart. Denver would have to give up both the #15 & #22 plus a 4th rounder.

Thoughts? I am especially interested to hear what Packer fans think.

I've been high on Denver moving up to get Vernon Davis since they got the #15 pick... Actually I go into it in my mock..

I'd make the trade... The Packers have plenty of holes to fill.

With all of the holes the 49'ers have, I don't really understand this move. I wonder who they're eyeing?

I think there eyeing DeAngelo Williams.. Mike Nolan really liked him at the Senior Bowl and back then said he'd consider taking him in the top 10. I think they could get him at #22..

Are they positioning themselves for a move to #1? They might be....consider the 49ers need positive support in the bay area, they need a RB, Bush is an instate, home grown athlete and was Alex Smith's high school teammate....just the storys locally generated about high school teammates being back to back #1 overalls, reunited in the NFL would create the buzz they need....#7 and #22 plus next years 1st should be enough to get the #1 if they want it....

I would think that just the two picks this year would be enough for the #1 overall, but then again I'm not an NFL GM. It's not like the Texans wouldn't benefit from taking a guy like Vernon Davis at #7 and whoever the best O-Lineman is that's available at #22.

Would also be a lot cheaper financially considering the obscene amounts of money Reggie Bush reportedly wants.

According to the "value" chart, for the broncos to move to #5, it would have taken the 15th, 22nd, and a 4th rounder....I know not everyone, or maybe even anyone, still follows that chart, but based on that, I would think it would be slightly more expensive to go from #7 to #1....that being said, its all about what you can get the Texans to agree to....I do think this is a good trade for the Texans, who could get Carr a TE to threaten the seam in Davis and add the best player available at #22 or get future picks in a trade....on a side note, an offense that was thought to devoid of weapons for Carr to use, would suddenly feature Dom Davis, Andre Johnson, Eric Moulds, and Vernon Davis....thats a pretty good group of skill position players....

I think they have too many needs to give up both 1sts and next years for one player even if it is Reggie Bush. When your rebuilding it's better to stockpile picks.

If I'm Houston I don't trade down that far and lose D'Brick, Mario Williams, and Reggie Bush....

Manny Lawson and Vernon Davis would be a nice pair of new starters for the 49ers here.. I like the trade by SF.. I think they'll end up with 2 new starters..

According to the chart, its not enough. They'd probably have to throw in a 1st next year or something.

Houston, I believe, signed Putzier who was released by Denver.

I wonder if the Niners trade partner is the Saints? Even so, SF would still fall short. They'd owe a 2nd or perhaps a 1st next year.

It's just about even if SF were to trade w/ the jets. That way, NY could drop back and still get Cutler.

In life, 3 things are cetain; Death, taxes, & the jets fans booing their 1st round pick.

Listening to Fireman Ed lead that sorry excuse for a spelling bee once is bad enough. 3 times would be too much especially when you factor Berman into the equation.

The boos and lack of comprehension times three by the contingent of green clad locals might cheer me up?

I'm thinking the same thing. I think the Saints covet AJ Hawk & would prefer to drop back to take him. 49ers get Mario Williams unless the Texans do the unthinkable & Bush falls to #2. However if that were the case the Saints would have to take Bush.

Actually I have an idea I worked out last night for possible trades into the top 5:

    1) Jets - Reggie Bush

    NY trades #4, #29 & #35 for the #1 overall

    2) 49ers - Mario Williams

SF trades #6, #22 & a 2nd round pick next year for the #2 overall

    3) Titans - Matt Leinart

    4) Saints - AJ Hawk

NO trades back up 2 spots in exchange for #22
    Saints also get #35

    5) Packers - Michael Huff

    6) Texans - D'Brick Ferguson

Houston continues to trade down & now holds 3 picks in the 1st round (6, 22 & 29)

Perhaps the excitement of potential draft day trades is getting to me, but I think it's a real possibility. The Texans are clearly reluctant to spend the $ on a #1 overall pick. The chances of SF trading up to #2 are less likely but I don't think the Saints are comfortable with spending such a high amount on 1 guy either. Especially when that guy(Mario Williams) doesn't fill a need. So maybe they take less than what they should in order to drop down a few spots & draft Hawk or Huff.

If Ferguson fell to the Packers, Thompson would take him and move Mark Tauscher to Guard.
