Brown & Blake Receive Qualifying Offers

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Washington Wizards extended a qualifying contract offer Wednesday to Kwame Brown, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2001 draft who was suspended at the end of last season.

The offer makes Brown a restricted free agent, so the Wizards have the right to match any offer another NBA team makes him this offseason.

The Wizards also made a qualifying offer to guard Steve Blake.</div>

This gets interesting with Kwame Brown now. The Wizards have to pull off a sign and trade or count on a team to offer him a ridiculous contract and let him walk.

So far Juan Dixon has not received an offer, he's probably headed elsewhere.

I think it was apparent that Juan Dixon wouldn't be back.

I like Blake, he is a servicable back up when given the mintues.

As for Kwame, Shape is right. Either a sign and trade or a ridiculous contract will pull him away from Washington, either way, I don't think he will be back here next year.

I hate Steve Blake man. He shoots way too many 3's and misses them, even he is open. All he can really do is look for the open man and lead during transition time. He's a really selfish player when it comes to shooting, the Wizards shouldn't try to resign him. Kwame Brown isn't going to be on the Wizards next year which is a garunteed. [IMG]

Dixon isn't going back to the Wiz... I think he wants a starting job. I personally think he's capable of starting else where.

Weird offers the Wiz extended. Brown really won't be coming back after he got suspended in the playoffs. He wants out, that is 100%.

    Blake...um... yeahh...(comments above my post)

    Not weird at all.

Everyone who followed the Wizards new that Juan Dixon wanted out and wouldn't be extended a qualifying offer. He has no chance of starting anywhere in this league in my honest opinion either. He shoots too much, and is pretty small. He was a great college player, that is it. He doesn't have a chance of being anything else but a sometimes capable spark plug off of the bench.

Offering Kwame a qualifying offer was smart. Even though the kid has problems here in Washington, he is still a 7'0 big man who is very athletic. You don't lose that without a price. I still haven't given up on the kid, he was injury riddled this year and I think given a fresh start with a new team, this kid could still turn into a decent NBA player. He trains with Jermaine O'neal also, that is another plus for this kid.

As for Steve Blake, I don't know why you guys don't like him. He has above average court vision and is the perfect backup pg in my eyes. I really like this kid. He struggled this year because he was injured quite a bit. He was a surprise in his rookie year and I think he has a future with this team, perfect off the bench role player.
